I saw some sort of a clip compilation of the Dublin gig a few days ago and it looked and sounded brilliant, looking forward to this one... cool

Ha Ha. I don't remember the Dublin/rubbin line when i was at the gig.

Note to Prince: That line is rubbish razz

maybe it was: if they here, y'all, they rubbin'

yeah, it was bad. was it off the cuff or did it come to him in the soundcheck?

Probably won't bother listening to it. This is one of those releases which goes directly to the archive.

^^ Indeed, setlist is none too special. I'm just thankful that NPR did not release it before One Nation fixed things.

it was a real yawner. listened to this, 3-3-86 first avenue and 7-7-07 first avenue aftershow tonight and no comparison to the other two shows. i seriously like prince with horns in his band. without them, and with the simple arrangements of the "hits", i'm bored. and three Time songs? are you kidding? sigh, give me some horns!

this tour feels like a cash grab. and yet there was melkweg night 2. i dont get it.

Just dropped this finished product and I have to say it is an improvement over the original raw track....but this wasn't really meant to see the light of day.It was meant just for me but I've found out that there have been no other recordings to surface.
Why was it meant just for me....well it was the presumed aftershow that I wanted! On video as well as audio but it never happened so no pictures were taking at Malahide and the recording was taking from the middle of the pit surrounded by party people and one dancing recorder (and I can dance).

In the past, when I've been lucky enough to get to Prince gigs I end up been a country mile form the stage, and this was the first time I managed to get pit tickets and not have to worry about wife or daughter, so I was going to make the most of it.

I met up with a couple of inter-web mates had a jar or two told them thar I was recording the show "..If they wanted copies" and partied hard....I had presumed that the Prince expert recorders would have the gig up on the web before I got home but I decided to record a copy anyways. Getting the recorder in was easy as its only 4cm by 9cm by 1 cm...(Very discrete) but in saying that a man in front of me was stopped taking in his Laptop and new not out of the wrappers microphones (Plonker)

A copy was always going to Si but as I told him before giving it to him...I wasn't happy with it for a general release as it is has a lot of audience chants going on, so after hearing from him that it was the only know recording he asked to release it after he worked on it....I said Ok but I needed to hear a copy first so last weekend while I was climbing a mountain in Kerry an e-mail was sent...I eventually got it on tuesday...it was the MP3 version of this set. There was a marked improvement but it is far from perfect, but blame this recorder rather the One Nation or NPR, hell during one spell of dancing the recorder fell out of my pocket onto the ground...I was out to enjoy Malahide....My work was to be the aftershow. The aftershow that never was.

For Prince Concerts this year I'm sure there are better ones, for boots there are clearer recordings, but this is a way to relive the party that was Malahide 2011 for those that were there. And I hope that those that were there are happy with it!

Even a raw recording is great for the folks that attended a gig; I'm sure those at Malahide would agree. wink

This may sound abit odd, I have boots to 3 of the concerts I have seen of Prince in Ireland, 90, 92, 95, could not get the boot to the second gig in 95 coz the place that sold them burnt down the night of the 2nd concert.

Anyway, all 3 plus the after show in the POD have one common denominator, the audience, it seems typical of the Irish to just keep talking and singing throughout the concert. 90 is probably the funniest of the lot, they kept singing Ole, Ole, Ole (anthem of Irelands first participation in the World Cup) during Alphabet Street much to Prince´s amusement, so much so, that he stopped and let us at it, then asked "who´s concert is this anyway?".

Then in 92 in the RDS in Dublin, we/they tried the same stunt, to which he abruptly said "If you start that shit again, I am going home wink " tongue in cheek naturally.

@ Jfrost, thank you for putting your recording up, I didnt mean to sound short in my reply last night, i was just abit tanked and could barely write anything of any sense, but i admired what you wrote...

Finally, for all you Hopfarm goers, there is a preview 1.0 version available which is really stunning, although I must admit that I am blown away with these collages of concerts, it is extraodinary some of the talent some people have to be able to put this stuff together, especially giving precious time for our voyeuristic pleasure...Humble appreciation to all involved...

If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

You didn't sound tanked.....well Ok a little razz

Anyways just wanted it kept straight about the route this recording had taken.

To be honest I felt no need to get a quality recording as the most vocal people here would shoot it down anyways...like I've said I wanted a ex+ recording of the Aftershow...but alas
