Remember when Prince was God?

You remember.... All those songs he wrote, they had meaning to fit his God-like ego. Think of some cool lyrics that embraces himself as the second coming. This is what the great rock stars do well. Of course, some stay down to earth, but some pack the gift of theater in the package. Unfortunately, Prince somewhere along the way mixed being worshiped with worshiping. You can't have it that way, Prince! That makes you a mere mortal like the rest of Planet Earth. You need to get back to enslaving humanity with your music. I saw a little of that on a late show back in April - 2011. I'm keeping up hope for "the return of the mack."

I remember... he was a great leader. The type that brought down racial and gender stereotypes.

He was very good at it as well - he was, as he says, a tyrant but a positive one.

That guy seems to be long gone.

NO....................NEVER. However I do remeber the height of his popularity and when there was no one, I mean NO ONE, who could come close to his creativity and artistry.

Prince would resent being called G__, especially as a result of his new faith. Just a few minutes ago, on FBook, I read a quote where Prince responded to a questions about Napster...and he said something like "record companies have been stealing for a long time." I mention this because there was a time when Prince fit into the mainstream...where he was all about the image, glam, sex, etc. It was all hyped up by the media coz that it was they push...that is what sells. Prince played that game...these days, he does not really care what record co's want or set as standards...he does his own thing. His messages contradict what is played out there...look at TRC...or Lotusflower...so, Prince is doing it his way.

If some of us are looking for a G__ in the music industry, it appears as if Lady Gaga lol is the media's new tool...follow her

I agree with this. Being a Witness and all the religious talk he does now aren't really fashionable things. Criticizing the web isn't fashionable either. He was more mainstream when selling sex was on top of his agenda.

also, wasn't there a stage when the org tried to make money off of Prince's name also, with the "collaboration" with Amazon or something like that?

i remember posting here and links would come up to buy stuff at some online site lol

Prince has every right, as an independent artist, to protect his name, image and reputation

biggrin

boxed confuse I stalk you? I read every post on the threads I'm interested in and I respond to every post that provokes some sort of response. I barely pay attention to the usernames. Maybe you have interesting posts? shrug

Please feel free to point out how I've been stalking you because I really don't recall square

Atheist? That's what I keep aiming to be! It's hard work trying to ignore all the rules, laws, myths and so on that we have thrust upon us in our societies. Don't think I'll ever be 100% until the day after I die. But that's the same for any belief.

And is the original post god or God? Should it read "...Prince was a god?"? If so then can you define god? That capital letter can make a world of difference?

To me Prince was a god, still is live. But in my youth the electric guitar, power chords and wailing solos were gods wink
