Top 20 Bootlegs Someone please give me a list of the 20 Prince bootlegs for both studio and live stuff that you would recommend. I'm hearing a lot of talk about the July 7, 1984 show. I only want to know about the high quality stuff that sounds good. I'm not trying to solicit anyone for bootlegs, so please don't lock this thread. I just want a quick guide because I've been out fo the loop on the bootlegs for a while.

I think you will get a totally different response from individual orgers. June 7, 1984 is definitely THE bootleg to have, Small Club is the obvious second one, but NEON RENDEZVOUS is one of my favorites as well, the long version of Noon Rendezvous is killer. Le New Morning 1987 is great....just to hear that "Was It My Face?" ( "What Did I Do?") song. Bataclan ONA tour is great. Rotterdam Nighttown ( ONA tour) is another must-have. First Avenue 1987 (warm up for the SOTT tour, also known as For Those Of You On Valium) Of course all those The Work bootlegs and their follow ups. Etc etc etc " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

You could do a lot worse than have a look at this site too http://main.thedigitalgarden.org/
It's the most up to date site regarding unofficial recordings.

You don't include "From The Soundboard: 1984 Birthday Show"? Can I ask why? You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

I think we are about to see the best video-boot release EVER in a few days, probably even better then the infamous August 3rd 1983 show and 4 Those Of You on Valium.

I did not include it for any particular reason, I love it.
I just forgot that's all, there are quite a few bootlegs out there.

The recording quality isn't the best out there, but I really enjoy the energy & the set list from the "Black Eye Day" release from the 21Nights launch party. Digital Gardener has a pretty spot on list though... Bottom line is, there's a ton of boots out there. It all depends on whether you enjoy audience recordings or simply like soundboards & what type of setlist/band line up you prefer...

Haha, I was like: am I just completely blind or is it not on that list...
Thanks for the list by the way, I've got about half or so, definitely got some work to do... You mean you're gonna actually hear what we play tonight? You're not gonna make up the notes in your mind?

That list is a very very tiny splash in a huge ocean of unofficial recordings.
The amount of recordings out there is quite breathtaking, then there are the videos.
Happy hunting.

One of my personal faves is "The Dawn 4.1". You can thank the org's BorisFishpaw for that one. Truly shows how great the '93-'95 work really was/is. Fantastic sequencing work on it.
*The Dawn 4.1 *From the Soundboard - 1984 Birthday Show *Box of Chocolates *Work It 2.0 (Vol. 1-8) *City Lights (Soundboards from Prince, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999 and Purple Rain tours) -- I'm not one to promote the hacks Sabotage, but I like the completeness of the recently produced City Lights Remastered Vol 1-4. Vol 5 (Parade Tour) should be out soon, if not already released. *Crystal Ball (Pimpsandwich) *Dream Factory (Pimpsandwich) *LoveSexy Live in Dortmund *T's 12in Archive *The Virtual U.S. 7-inch Singles Box *30 Years of Unreleased Funk and on and on and on...
As a general rule, you usually can't go wrong with anything the boot labels FBG and 4DF put out. DFB isn't bad either. Sabotage pretty much steal others' work and label it as their own, but some of their comps aren't bad. Stay away from crap "reworks" labels like NPGVandals and Maxim.

^^ Nice list. The Dawn 4.1 and T's 12inch Archive are pretty much essential, great stuff.
Pimps Crystal Ball and Dream Factory are great too.

You can see what will be on it on this flyer. Still no news of it's release though. Maybe someone else can give us a hint.
