When Doves Cry

I'm not a musician but aren't there sounds in WDC that resemble drums...."How can you just leave me standing (boom boom) alone in the world that's so cold (boom boom)...."world that's so cold, maybe, maybe...." etc.....What are those sounds if they are drums? Pardon my ignorance smile

Lots of great ones. But one that isn't mentioned much is Right Back Here In My Arms. Love that bass groove.

I did just skim, but I'm surprised no-one has mentioned "The Work part 1". One of the most excellent basslines he's ever come up with! Also, She Spoke to Me is a big fav, especially in the way the guitar harmonizes with the bassline.

Recent favs are Beginning Endlessly and Wall of Berlin. Fonky!

i was wondering what people thought are the best rock basslines he has done. He's amazing at the funk bassline thing but i was curious as to what people thought were his best rock ones.

for some reason, I always feel like playing the air bass when I hear Partyman. Seeing him play bass on it in the footage from him in the studio is so flippin' great... even though that part isn't in the actual song as I recall.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/

I like the little bass hook on Jam Of The Year. Also Like New Position, I like the bass funk in LoveSign, Let's Work, Northside, Batman...there are so many. PLUS I love to see Prince play bass live! I wish he would do that more.

cool
