We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

Look, it's not really a personal thing here, ok?
We're all grownup.
You're wrong, I'm right. It's not that difficult to man up to.
But I do enjoy laughing at your remarkable inability to ...um.... debate. |

They're just looking for publicity and pity... if they wanted to release some good music they'd find a way to do it without involving Prince and his intellectual property. Sorry, I have no sympathy for excuse makers. Didnt they just say recently they're still in the process of writing songs for the album??? So they dont even have a finished project. Change it one more time.. |

Why cant we enjoy whatever it is groups like this still have to offer without his interferance?
He's not interfering with them operating as a new band... But if he's not part of it, its his prerogative that he'd not want the side-project he created to be associated with a new band/music. Right? This isn't rocket science... They can move on if they want or they can hold on to a history they shared with him, just as he can. Both have the same rights in that regard. The fact is they realize its more lucrative to put out an album and continue to tour with the name of his side-project. But they're all talented musicians. They should be able to blow up and and establish a (new) reputation on their own based upon their own talents outside of Prince. Right? It shouldnt be that difficult. even if this is true, it has nothing to do with the laughable claim that Prince could not have written those songs without the time.
well i don't think he would have written "nasty girl" either if not for wanting a certain nasty girl to sing it .. is that laughable too? |

so if prince writes for someone, that someone should get credit for it? The fact is your post is laughable. The idea that Prince would not have written those songs without the time is nonsense, that's all. The author of the song deserves the credit, not the person who sang it or the person whom it was written for. |

But aren't we talking about the name of the band? That is, apparently Prince doesn't want them touring or recording as The Time even if they're going to play all new material.
Prince ought to join forces with the Winklevoss twins. The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach. |

-I'm doing alot of read in the OLD threads and it says in books too, that Prince put The Time and others through Acting school, when 'em sukas took the courses, they should of taken it serious.
-If they had, they could of went very far in the Prince World.

i agree that obviously the time should be allowed to perform and tour and do whatever they want to do. There is no doubt that he is wrong here- he is a hypocrite on covers and on this issue as well. I wonder if he realises his own contradictory statements. I'd love to see a reporter asking him "prince, you have covered other artists songs on your record, why do you have a problem with other artists covering yours?" and then see his reaction |

You are aware that ever since the breakup of the originals after Graffiti Bridge that Morris Day has toured with an alternate line up of musicians under 'Morris Day & The Time'. They've played numerous cities and shows (most recently BB Kings in NYC in July). Unless using this alternate name included a stipulation that they could not record or perform new music under it then why not use it now to release the new music. Everyone who is a fan of theirs is already familiar with the 'Morris Day & The Time' moniker and wouldn't be too fazed by it. The only issue I could conceive of is that the other original who weren't a part of that touring line up don't want to be associated with the name out of foolish pride. Similar to the bashings they gave the stand-in members on Ice Cream Castles. The original line-up only did 2 albums before a major staff change and that was all of about 12 -14 tracks of material. Then came Ice Cream Castles which had their biggest hits of which most of the orignals had no association with whatsoever. Then came Pandemonium and that put them at about 26 to 28 tracks for a career spanning close to 30 years. If they really want to get new music out there then they should suck it up and do it however they have to. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! |

With the 30th anniversary of its first album coming in 2011, the group also has interest in a retrospective and possibly revamping and reissuing its back catalog.
The above statement makes me sad, because we know it's never gonna happen The guys want to do it and we all know that Warners would approve. There's just a certain 'somebody' who would block it from happening |

_If Morris is really "serious" about it and wants to stop playing, he should get all the members to sit down and really, REALLY study the song, 'Corporate World', till they have the words branded in their brains.
