Prince & The Revolution Live - concert vhs tape

The guitar solo Prince plays on the extended jam part of "Take Me With U" is absolutely filthy. Just amazing. I particularly love when he busts into the "Controversy" riff in the middle of that solo. And the band - The Revolution, Sheila, Eddie Minnefield, etc - is seriously cookin'! Love Eddie's sax during Prince's guitar solo. Also very cool when Prince, still playing that wicked solo, leads Brownmark and Wendy in a procession around the stage and Bobby Z's drum kit. Then Prince is groovin' so freakin' hard, spinning round to the jam he's just stompin' his left foot to the beat.

AWESOME.

What you are discussion is the music video of "Take Me With U", that the official video. That's not the version on the Prince & The Revolution "Live" concert video. Those two are entirely different video clips.

They are one in the same, my friend. I'm watching the VHS tape as I write this. What I am describing above is on the Prince & The Revolution Live VHS tape. The "video" was to promote sales of that concert tape.

The Facts.

There were 2 live videos from Purple Rain:

Take Me With U - shot live in Houston, Jan 1985

I Would Die 4 U / Baby, I'm A Star - shot live in Washington, D.C., Nov 1984

Neither are from Prince And The Revolution Live (VHS) which was shot in Syracuse, NY March 30, 1985

The VHS tape was not released until December 1985. No videos were produced to promote it.

discuss... biggrin
