Kanye got on stage at a time when they were inviting fans to get on stage and dance and he chanted for a bit and then disappeared again.

I'd imagine that he simply happened to be in (or close to) the same city on the same night and decided to catch a Prince concert; then Prince heard he was in the audience and decided (wisely or not so wisely) to give him the mic when he got up on stage to dance.

Given what he said when he did, I don't imagine it will be happening again any time soon

I don't think for a moment that Prince is 'courting' him and I'm certain he doesn't think he needs him (he's never gone in for that Madonna style of promotion), nor do I think it has a lot to do with image other than possibly a little bit of showing off the celebrities that come to Prince concerts, similar to what went on in NY and LA.

Fun for Kanye fans I'm sure - not really a big deal to the rest of us.

Prince is a legend yes. But like it or not, Watch the Throne is HUGE. Prince doing this is like him pulling up that Gossip Girls actress in NYC--who the hell is she? Definitely!!!! It's just Prince's way of trying to validate HIMSELF. He wants to feel like he matters or is still somewhat cool.

I like Kanye; I think he's talented. This was unexpected and a little random. But, once again, I'm just jealous I wasn't there to witness it.

As a performer, maybe not more of a talent than a huge ego with special effects. Creating huge hits and classics as well as some of the most interesting instrumentals of modern times, I would certainly not say that is has no real talent.

Agree with you completely, Replica!! And to add to that, Kanye is no different than Prince in regards to the fact that his antics and his ego sometimes overshadow his talent. Kanye is one of the best out there just like Prince...this isn't about who is more relevent or who is more talented. Neither need either for anything.

As for kewlschool: Kanye is not a singer, he's a rapper. Whether or not he can sing w/out the assistance of autotune isn't even worth putting on the table. There are plenty of singers that can't sing worth a quarter and people don't seem to mind. He's good at what he does (producing, rapping etc). Yes, he has a tremendous ego...but he can back that ego up.

my same thoughts....he was probably at the concert because he was the headliner of the second night at the festival ...and it wasn't a duet... he said something for about one minute or less on stage...a lot of celebrities were on stage in the US concerts during the "dance moment"...
