Just finished Jason Draper's "Chaos, Disorder, and Revolution

Have any of you read it? It's the only Prince bio I've read and I'm wondering how it stacks up against the others. It's the most wideranging (timeline-wise) since it's very recently published (it covers everything up to Welcome 2 America at the Izod Center in Jersey). The author made a poin of thanking Per Nilsen, so maybe I'll read his next...

it's not bad.

You should read Per Nlisen The First Decade, and Uptown The Vault

I just read Ronin Ro's Prince Behinds the Masks, which is an interesting read as well

Per's "DMSR: The First 10 Years" is required reading. It's the bible as far as Princeophiles are concerned.

I have. It was informative and I felt even-handed. The section about his infant son's death was heartbreaking. sad

Who would like to sell me a copy of THE VAULT.

I spaced and never got it. So jealous at the people that have it.

First bio I've read, it appealed to me because it's up to date & I'm equally curious about Prince today & I liked the author's interview on the Peach & Black Podcast. Even Draper's personal asides about the albums never felt bitchy or snide.

Is it easy to find?

(Just want to know how much time I have to put into looking for it.)

Yeah... He didn't seem to be pushing an opinion or point of view on anything. Easy to read writing style. I was just distracted by his repeated use of certain phrases... Set the charts alight, set the world alight, set Britain alight. I had to stop counting the number of times he said that.

I was so excited when I saw "Chaos, Disorder and Revolution" in the bookstore. I've always looked for books on Prince but can never seem to find any. Not even at the library.

The book was an enjoyable read. It was very up to date and the author didn't write in a snarky tone. It was written in a fair and factual way. No tabloid trash here.

Had some nice photos in it too (though not in color)

First concert: January 18, 2011 & then February 7, 2011 at MSG. Best concerts of my life.

Really? I only flicked through this book when I 1st obtained it and have decided that I will not bother reading it properly.

Mr Drapers bloomer in calling the Roadhouse Garden project "Roundhouse Garden," not once, not twice, but several times told me most of what I needed to know about this book and it's author.

Mr Drapers previous Prince book "Life & Times," was pretty to look at, but again suffered in the facts department, basically being a rehash of Per Nilsens "DMSR" and Uptowns book "The Vault." While I have no problem with anyone using such books as research for a new book, I feel that the books already written tell us most of what we need to know.

The beauty of Chaos, Disorder & Revolution is that it brings us to the present day, but that I feel is all this book has going for it, and how much of it is based on accurate fact?

I think I will stick with Mr Nilsens books.

Jason Draper also mistakenly referred to Vanity as hispanic. But still, as a whole I enjoyed the book.
