sounds like a Prince song: Sell Out Cousin
Yes for me the image/sound connection started with the 2nd album where he is sitting what looks like an attic room on the bed with the guitar in the Dawn. That image looks like the music of 4 U & Prince sounds. In the suburbs.
Dirty Mind took it Uptown and took us back to his room when the sun was going down Controversy continued with that but via Private Joy Do Me Baby but took his sexuality & politics into the streets. 1999 followed (Prince on his bed with the watercolors afterdark) with the neons. He has a loft in the city experiencing life sex while grappling with politics (not God yet) really Still hanging with his gang of Purple Hippies

Those shots of Lisa & JJ playing keyboards together were erotic as hell!
It's funny how just playing the keyboards looked really sexual and lesbionic.
I'm sure it was Prince's idea, and it's one of the sexiest things I've ever seen in a Music Video. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Irrestistable Bitch is better than anything on the 1999 album, shame its a b-side.
I like 1999, but the album for the most part always feels a bit cold to me. Its very synth pop, not much guitar aside from title track and little red corvette. Songs go on a bit too long sometimes also in my opinion. Prefer the whole album live, Delirious on the Lovesexy tour is exactly how id love it to be on recording. Something in the water live in the 80s also came across better than on studio.

Automatic is a song by Prince from his 1982 album, 1999. It was released as a 7" single only in Australia, with the B-side of "Something In the Water (Does Not Compute)".

She's heard on Lady Cab Driver as the Lady Cab Driver Prince has sex with
Her vocals are on 1999, Free and a few others She appeared with Lisa Coleman in the Automatic video and toured with Prince & the noituloveR 1999 tour
1.) 1999: rel 12.18.1982 6.) Automatic: background vocals-Lisa Coleman & Jill Jones 9.) Lady Cab Driver being a sessions vocalist for Prince she's probably on a lot of outtakes as well.
Jill Jones was born in a small town in Ohio to a black mother who worked as a fashion model and an Italian father who was a jazz drummer. Her mother’s second marriage meant the family moved to LA and Jill left home at 17 to try and become a singer. Her mother managed Teena Marie and Jill got a job as her backing singer --- she also wrote some songs for her. Jill met Prince on the 1980 Dirty Mind tour when Teena Marie was his support act. Prince nicknamed her the “white fox” and asked her to work with him.

at this moment, my favorite Prince show bar none. Prince introduces All the critics as follows: 'This is a new song. Probably won't be out for another year. Or six.' Goes on for eleven minutes.

These are the era's u wish he did more with
Like perform with Vanity 6 or have them onstage and part of the show like Cat during SOTT
mixed videos where the Time & or Vanity 6 members are cast along with noituloveR member or other people in the camp
I wish I could have been his PR man back then, I could play "Jamie Starr" make mysterious appearances at different spots etc
Jill Jones should have had a mini album during this time
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly. I strongly believe an earlier Jill Jones album was a missed opportunity on Jamie Starr's part.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah Especially with her vocal skills and her White Fox character it would have been perfect, the 1987 Jill Jones release as a protege didn't work with the era of SOTT
She should have had a a Controversy/1999 release a Purple Rain release and a Parade era release
