I have got an email from amazon as well.
Price..... $27,76...
LF is a bit uneven for me, I think I will pass on this, altho I love to collect vinyls.
The album is ok, but too much fillers in between. Prince 4Ever.

No, it doesn't. Which is the best thing about it. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

These were released on vinyl a long time ago. It does not include the Bria album. It does include a full colour poster.
It is said to be limited to 2000 copies worldwide.
The MPLSound album is also available as a single vinyl album.
I have two of the double Lotus vinyl and one copy of the MPLSound vinyl, they were going cheap on ebay so I grabbed them while I could.

Is this the French release? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Yes both the double Lotus vinyl and single MPLSound vinyl are French releases.

A lot of people don't seem to like the Bria album. But to me it seems like out of all three discs, the Bria disc is the most concise and fluid. The others jump around in style a lot, which is ok. Perhaps the Bria album would have been better received if it was just released on it's own as a single disc.

I doubt it. Nobody would ever have heard of it.
I tried listening to it exactly once. Made it to about the fourth track and haven't been back. It might be the most boring thing I've ever listened to in my life. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I agree, Prince does nothing to promote albums by his proteges/whoever, if had not been included in the 3cd Lotus set, I doubt anyone would ever have heard of her album.
I don't like Elixer at all, but I did like Prince's version of that particular song as played at Montreux.

Of course, this also assumes he could have gotten Elixer released on its own, in the first place. Can you say Milk and Honey? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

^ Ouch! | |

Proof that Elixer would have been better received if it had be sung by a seasoned vocalist. Not a singer with limited interpretation technique. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Am I wrong? We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I also have the Lotusflow3r vinyl. It's sealed, so I never opened it. But it says it's limited to 2000 copies indeed, with a poster.

Like Britney Spears ory Katy Perry?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Katy Perry is a better singer than just about any of Prince's proteges, past or present.
But I think kewschool is saying that Prince should have kept Elixr for himself. the Montreaux performance suggests that's true of All This Love as well.

What is the included poster of? Photo of P or Lotus Flow3r graphic art?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The Lotus/MPLSound covers, it's double sided.

I also own the vinyl. In my opinion, it's his best cover artwork since the early 90's, and it's great to see it BIG. Also, it's quite a good album, sometimes brilliant.
However, the sequencing becomes disappointing in vinyl, since side A ends with Feel Good, Feel Better, Feel Wonderful, and not with Colonized Mind, which would have been a perfect song to end the first half of the record. Those are the problems of an album not conceived in vinyl terms that is reconverted into vinyl afterwards. There were some interesting threads in the org some months ago about this problem regarding Diamonds And Pearls and Love Symbol.

Do you mean that, after the problems with the Universal deal, Prince would find it hard to get support for a protege act? Or that he would simply find it hard to get a deal for a protege act regardless?
Milk & Honey was cancelled by Universal at the last minute. In Japan it had already been pressed and you can find it on eBay.
The specifics of the situation aren't all known - but what we do know is that Universal pulled the plug on it not because they had any gripes with the quality of the album, but as part of a battle that had ensued with Prince whereby he was accusing them of not promoting 3121 as much as he had been led to believe they would, and they in return were accusing him of not following through with some of the promotional efforts that he had promised.
Financially, the best thing for Universal to have done with the Tamar album upon reaching an impasse with Prince, would have simply been to release the Tamar album with the bare minimum of promotion. Even if just the core Prince fanbase bought it, they would have made more of that money back than by pulling the plug - it was done simply as a reaction to their problems with Prince....
I think it's a great album. |

^^ Yes, it's a pity that those Japanese copies cost an absolute fortune though.

I knew all that.
What I'm saying is that Milk and Honey was supposed to be part of a package with 3121 for Universal - and it was the fact that Universal got to (potentially) make $$$$ off a Prince album that got them to take Milk and Honey, in the first place. Well, knowing what happened that time, it just makes sense that Prince would package the next protegee album with his own - and get the money for the whole shebang up front. That way, there couldn't be any gamesmanship after the fact - the CD was coming out.
Prince is nothing if not a "live and learn" kind of guy. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
