Since this topic went into another direction because of my concern, I will state for the record that I'm black and not colorblind but alert enough to know when the relevence of race is needed. Tyler's comment in the way I read it seemed condescending toward his black friend as though he never heard music before. If that was a misinterpreptation on my part than I will apologize but the comment struck a nerve in me that reminded me of the way whites and other ethnicites would use the phrase " some of my best friends are black " when they would react to an off color joke about blacks, plus it implied that those black friends weren't real friends at all.
