Prince & our children...

Do your kids go around singing Prince songs all the time? Do you let them watch his movies? I do, they really like him lol, my 7 yr old and 2 yr old the most and then they fill in the words cause they forgot the song, it sooo cute! Sometimes they get in trouble amd tell me to release it lmao I tell them I'm gonna release a can of whoop ass on them in a minute!

I was playing controversy (the song) very loudly the other day and my 19 year old son comes in the living room and says to me "mom, I've been listening to this song very closely and I know he's singing "count your pussy", well I started cracking up and had to show him the album cover to convince him otherwise... It was hysterical....

That quote made my damn day!

I love a Man who:
Wears More Make Up Than Me.
Wears Four Inch Stilleto Boots.
Changes His Name To An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Who Changes His Name Back From An Unpronouncable Symbol.
Oh And Most Importantly, Who Is Sexy Little Drop Of Butterscotch

My kids are coming in November and I plan to raise them on Prince. And then, just like me, they'll finally grow up and realize what all those funny songs were really about.

My sons (age 9 and 11) don't understand Prince's music and lyrics yet. They are native-born Finns and great fans of Michael Jackson. They keep asking why I prefer Prince and I'll keep answering "Someday you'll know..." I just adore and respect their innocence as long as it is still there.

alas my kids really don't have the choice!!, they've been brought up on him and at such a young age [10] really appreciate his all round skills and work ethic. Just yesterday we were laughing at how their fave younger 'artists' sound out of breath when singing and dancing live.

They adore the songs that we hardcore hate i.e. everybody loves me etc!

According to the fact that I'm only 18, I don't have kids but I already know what I'm going to do when I'll have them cool

During the pregnancy time I'll be listening to Prince ONLY (I will also put the headphones on my belly to make my child love Prince from the veeery beginning). My children's rooms will be all purple and I'll teach them all the lyrics biggrin

Yeah, even though I still don't have a father for them, I know my children are going to be the little true funk soldiers!

I don't think so really. Because when I first let my mom hear this song and asked her if she liked it, she said: yeah it's pretty good, but he is singing "pussy" isn't he? lol

My 17 y.o. likes Controversy, the intro to Mr. Good Night, and the intro to Do Me Baby

She was in the first grade singing "Here we are in this trickal ingenuity". lol lol lol

Don't ask me (or her for that matter) what that meant!!!

To date, I haven't heard my 9 y.o. sing any Prince songs. She's too busy playing MJ's "Speed Demon" on WII

im 22 so i dunno if i still qualify as a "kid" but i became a huge huge fan after seeing Prince live 4 the 1st and only time in 2004 in the Musicology 2004ever tour. To add to the controversy song post....i was like 16 or 17 when i 1st heard that, i knew right away he was saying controversy...not "pussy" but i could definately see how thats miss heard.
