It appears that may have been a tribal dance that the Cameroons can relate 2.

True, after all she is from Bamenda, Cameroon. Could just be a dance she made up. Who knows, but looks like she's having some fun with it. [Edited 8/5/11 13:12pm] |

I agree. More than likely when he said that, he was referencing Andy's place of birth. [Edited 8/5/11 18:11pm] |

I spend over 75% of my internet time on The Org and been here for its highs and lows. Of the 1001 X 2 silly threads that are posted here on a monthly basis I wonder why we as Org fans get so heavily invested in topics that should have been innocuous and drive them off the cliff, what purpose does this serve? That clip is forty seconds of a playful dance that NO ONE outside of this site would pay any mind and now have turned it into a bitch fest over where the phrase comes from, seriously folks? Love her or hate her, why do you care this much, what fulfillment does it bring your life? Use the ADULT side of your brain and ignore topics that bother you, all of the wasted frustration and energy is not going to help you, let it go. Jeux Sans Frontiers |

the other day i was searching for images on african ethnic groups through yahoo images...under camerooian, just on the first page i found a pic of andy with her straighten and short...i though it was kinda werid seeing her pic there, so i click on it and lead me to a blog site that has some info about her...it stated she is Cameroonian, German, Welsh, and Irish singer, actor, model....I didn't think it was necessary to mention it on this site but after seeing that clip of her and the cameroon dance on drfunkenberry...i thought i would share this strange story with you all
in a way she kind of reminds me of sade (based on both their exotic beauty and involved in the music biz) but in the end they are 2 completely different artists

Well, Prince was amazing! He sounded like James Brown! if Andy brings this
out in him, I'm thrilled. She does need to loosen up. Prince's other dancers-
ABT soloist Misty Copeland, the Twins, and Mayte were just exquisitely
perfect on stage, so just looking good won't be enough. She will want to
move fluidly with freedom.
I personally think Andy is a keeper. She contributes alot to his band and
will give him good performance for at least a few more years. She fills the void
left by Sheila E, and will no doubt grow professionally into a great all around
performer.
Even if this were just an opinion, it would be completely wrong.

Damn, you people managed to overanalyze and critique the shit out of what's supposed to be a fun dance performance.
Welcome to the org, remember to check your sensitivities at the door.
I really can't see a thing right now so that's about all I can comment on at this moment. |

Yes, her father is African (Cameroonian) and her mother is European. She was born in Bamenda, Cameroon and I believe, moved to the U.S., when she was around 12-14 years old (junior high school age), with her mom and siblings, as she stated on a show she performed on last year. She also said she still keeps in touch with her family in Cameroon, and that she is named after her father. [Edited 8/5/11 18:42pm] |

Indeed. And this time it's seemingly spiked with some type of hard liquor. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee
