Am I crazy for thinking 1999 on Solid Gold is one of Prince's best tv performances??

although he lip synched on that performance and no instruments were played, the stage presence and clothing were cool enough for me to really enjoy it. i also like how he threw his guitar. it went right over lisa's head eek

I just had to spool up one of my dvd's to reaquaint myself with this "performance."

Yes, you are crazy. lol wink

I'm joking, lip synched stuff is just boring and pointless to me no matter how good the visuals.

I think it was a nice little performance. It showed off Prince's energy and charisma on stage.

Back then Haley's Comet appeared more than Prince did on TV! So, if he showed up on a program, lip-synching or not, you had to see it.

JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

Not for me, although of course it was good, but lip synch isnt that special. if anything I adored the Grammy's more. Singing && performance? Amazing

Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! biggrin In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

How could a lip synced TV performance be one of his best? neutral

Are you crazy? Yes, I think so. Only kidding.

Not sure how a 'not live' performance could be the best. I started a thread last week about his best TV performance and I think Vibe - Let's work/delirious shows what he can really do. Not even in the same league as this. In my opinion of course.

You might want to remove the link or pointer to the video from this thread though, as it will only be time before it is removed by the youtube police.

cool

Without even seeing this thread I was thinking about that performance a few days ago. Why? Because I'd heard about this performance my sister ( "Prince THREW DOWN on Solid Gold! He threw his guitar and somebody caught it...that shit was fye!") and remeber it being kind of a huge milestone for him as a performer instead of that guy that just humped around and played guitar.

I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

If links are not allowed then why would someone mention liking his performance on Solid Gold and ask what we thought of it? WTF? Are we suppossed to just jump onto some time machine and whiz back to 1982? Right on by Marilyn McCoo and her sequin dress? Where in the hell are we suppossed to see this performance?

Why don't you ask the OP your first question?

As for links, it's no use complaining to me, I don't set the rules, I was only stating one of them.

The performance is available on a widely circulating multi volume dvd series called TV Appearances. Failing you having that you can always use google to find it elsewhere as already suggested to you by someone else.
