.

.

yes...i know lots of people on this website would be happy if prince never released another album but i aint one of them....its been over a year now since his last album and i need some new music...i have been used to new prince product at least once a year since 1984 and i need my prince hit or i will start shaking and sweating....

.

i bet that prince is getting an itch to release something soon and that itch will need to be scratched sooner rather than later...

You must learn to wait.

I haven't had a Prince (sung) album of real quality since 2001.

And I'm still alive.

I'm not one of those who 'don't want him to release another album, ever', but I'd rather have nothing than have albums like Musicology, 3121, Planet Turd, Indigo Nights, Lotus/MPLS or 20Ten. Really.

Every new sub-par album just takes away from his overall production.

I hear you.

I'm always excited about a new Prince album, and seeing as how one of the most recent releases, 'Lotusflower', was one of the strongest albums in his musical journey, I was most definitely hungry for what was coming next.

Since '20ten' wasn't released officially, I can't comment on that too much, but I have heard it, and I adore that album, though 'Lotusflower' has had more longevity and rotation. In fact, 'Lotusflower' may even be a contender as one of the most played albums by Prince, and I go waaaay back.

For me, the greatest longevity/greatest amount of listens, in chronological order:

'Controversy'

'1999'

'Parade'

'Sign O' The Times'

'Lovesexy'

'Rainbow Children'

'Lotusflower'

20Ten may have not seen a 'standard worldwide release' (quite a few of his lastest albums haven't) but I don't think it's correct to say that it' wasn't officially released'.

Last time I checked it was NOT a bootleg.

I know. That's just my little dig at P for not giving it a "proper" release.

I'm quite enjoying the downtime actually. I liked Lotusflow3r and a good slice of PE, but the run of Musicology, 3121, MPLSound and 20Ten doesn't bode well for future releases. Put some polish on the next one rather than just slinging out another cookie cutter 10-12 tracks.

That's funny.... I had the same sweaty, shakey, nauseous feeling when I first heard 20Ten.

I think 20TEN was released far too soon after Lotusflow3r....we had 3 albums to digest...i'd have prefferred him to have delayed 20TEN or keep in the vault as it sucked...while the Lotusflow3r set was cool...i'd rather have the nice memories of that album!!

I would like a new album though but this time one that has been really thought out and written from the heart rather than rushed out....

He is touring his purple bollocks off, how about giving him 5 mins to catch his breath?

The longer in between albums the better imo, hopefully it will result in something special.

I hear you.

To me, it feels like Lotusflow3r (the whole set), is still kind of fresh. He could of pulled an MJ and fleshed that one out for a couple of years and then slapped us with a new one this year.

20ten, whilst good, offered nothing new. It felt quick. Lotusflow3r had staying power and shown some real passion and an inspired Prince. If 20ten had been on par, i wouldn't of needed another album this year, but it felt like "hey, this is a side dish i was cooking during the main, Lotusflow3r", so i'm really wanting a new album.

But, hey, however long he needs is also cool. He'll be coming up with some new system to get it out there first, though.

I agree, and I also think it sounds a whole lot fresher than 20Ten ever did/will.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Same here. The feeling also prevents me from picking that from the shelf...

He should've released it as a double album coupled with MPLShit and titled the set 'Absolute Rock Bottom'.

I'm really not sure. While I think most of his 2000-2010 albums were "meh", I still do like hearing whatever junk he's fucking around with in the studio no matter how tragic it is. I don't force myself to listen to his bad music over and over again. If I never hear "Rich Friends" or "Dear Mr. Man" or "Avalanche" again, I'm good. Then again, there is at least one song on 20TEN ("Future Soul Song") and 90% of LotusFlower disc that I really do love.

If he put out a killer album or at least an album that felt like it was a labor of love (like Rainbow Children), then I'd retract any nervousness I had about his pending releases. But as it stands, I'm really really really not feeling another 3121/PE/MPLSound/20TEN rehash.

I'm sated for now with First Avenue '84, and it's led me back to all the unreleased and outtake compilations I've got knocking about.
