Nice. That's the problem with most people. If Prince looked like Fred Sanford and somehow managed to write and record and sound exactly like he does now, he wouldn't have gotten anywhere. Idiots complain about the lack of "good" music on the radio these days, but we all need to realize there are people out there making better music than EVER before but they will remain unknown because the don't have the LOOK. Music is NOT about looks. It is not about how well the musician dances, either. It should be about the music ONLY. I'd rather pay money to HEAR Prince play live behind a curtain than to be on stage WATCHING him lip-sync. I don't care about his hair, his clothes or how good-looking his backup band is. Those things should be icing on the cake, NOT the main reason for going to a show.

You think if you repeat your response it makes more sense?

Yes, he sure gave the Dutch a lot of love. And vice versa.
However, there have been sound issues in the Netherlands too. The first concert at NSJF and I also didn't have a great experience at the last Ahoy gig. However, that might have been my seat/placing. I was at the west ring, on the side of the stage. Still, I did pay 80 Euro, so could have expected good sound quality for that amount of money. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

When will some of you let this go? Do you not understand that he meant dead economically. He even took the time to explain this an a subsequent interview.

Yeah all those covers he does have to sound just right! I heard one of his high heals cut the main sound cable when he went for his 3 costume change and shelby was singing her 8 solo!

This is something I'd very much like to see! He could sing I Miss You. Mercy @ the thought. Purple heaven for me.

If Fred Sanford sang with Prince's falsetto, I'd watch his ass too. Seriously though, it's P's voice for me. The look, hair, clothes are an afterthought. If his vocals sucked, I would not be a fan for all these years. I couldn't do it.

agree. the only problems were the sound (which didn't actually sound too bad on the videos, so i'm not sure what to believe) and Shelby J.

The "trouble" they ran into is nothing that could not be fixed, and from the looks of things; they have been handled already! It's Button Therapy, Baby!

1. Glad others have caught the "post-production" incongruity. Made no sense to me.
2. I haven't really been paying Dr. Funkenberry's releases any attention until lately. So, pardon the unfamiliarity: But does he always write this way? Fan blogger or employee, or a little bit of both?

He has had bad sound for years and years. I'm starting to think there is something supernatural about this. God is angry at Prince and is telling him, cricket, get your shit together.
He needs to get out of the clouds and get to reality. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Yeah he ALWAYS writes that way. I have no idea of his relationship with Prince. [Edited 7/30/11 11:32am]

That's because that dude is a sad idiot who thinks he's the shiznit. Just look at his tweets: he retweets the tweets of people retweeting him, to show that he's oh so popular and respected. That pathetic blog is his only job, yet the dude can't write anything without a couple of spelling or grammar mistakes, and his opinions are bland and uninformed. © Bart Van Hemelen

Looks that way, according to what I've read in the Concerts forum. Seems the concert went well in Dublin.

Not true, I read bad reviews about the cologne concert.

I agree and don't agree at the same time. Cause when I go to a show, I pay for the whole experience/package. If the concert is both visually great and sounds perfect, then nothing beats that. But of course the sound of it is much more important than costumes. However I enjoy Prince as a showman just like I enjoy James Brown a showman. If you're in a band, you're not jamming with your back against all of the other members? Communication visually is often making it it even better. My Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tundrah

without knowing what the exact problem was you have absolutely no idea if it was controllable or avoidable. have you any idea the equipment involved with putting on a live show. trust me, as a musician, no matter how much you know of what youre doing things can 'just happen'

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

Aww tough break-hope the next show will be better.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That doesn't satisfy the people who could just attend just this one show and paid 150 euros.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Sigh. But what was the actual problem? ('sound' is too broad, please specify) And why was it fixed by running off stage? Why was there no communication during 30 minutes?
All this made an unprofessional and highly emotional impression. Why no 'soundcheck song' and then continue? When the band came back no problem was audible form the front row at the fartest end of the catwalk. (yes, I do not have absolute hearing...)
So please elaborate. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I'm more upset at Dr. Funkenberry's illiteracy than I am about Prince's concert trouble in Germany. Way more.

The news about the sound has been disturbing...here is a take on what is going on....if u agree or disagree, none-the-less, imho...
1. There is a great deal of projection going on here. Folks are projecting issues with the sound onto the sound folks and voila, sound issues occur. The people attending the concert need a clearing, the sound guys need a clearing, and it gets deeper. So, why don't all of the light workers on Earth unite and make a call to the Light Beings? It works. So, let's show our Love and shine Love onto the folks attending the shows, the Sound folks, Prince and all the band. Clearing is good - just remember to ask for your own clearing after working on clearing others. After we clear, consciously, we get into the light and feel lighter, less burdened by these physical bodies.
Those that choose consciously to remain negative, the Mirror applies.
We must love the entire Earth, this Solar Family that the Earth belongs to and beyond. There are more Solar Families...
2. There is a lot going on in the atmosphere and the environment itself needs clearing. It's okay - this happens everywhere. The Divine Light Beings can do so much without being called, but when They are called consciously for their assistance, it seems that They can do so much more. So, we need to unite, not divide (3121 can't be divided) and call in the Light Beings. They will clear the atmosphere and will clear the atmonsphere in and around all the locations that Prince is playing.
3. A lot of transfomation is going on right now on this Earth, who knows, maybe the issues with the US Congress (yeah, Congress, not Progress) could be dumping negativity in Europe. i don't like to mention negativity, but this Earth, at this stage, is a world of duality. If we - the folks reading this and those who love Prince - try to unite consciously, while there appears a duality, in the higher worlds, where we do live while in physical form also, we bring a higher call to our beingness and the meaning to us being a Family. i believe that we are a Prince family. Or, drop the word Prince and just call us a loving Family of music and creativity that flows through us.
Are you onboard? Are you ready to be Love as consciously as possible and be in a point of positivity? Nothing can take positivity down fully as the Light always engulfs our Being. Let's start with clearing the atmosphere and ask for our Creator and us as creators also to bring us to the light....and let's start with Sound.
It's all about the Light and Sound of God. And, we live in IT. And, we r IT. Let's choose to live in it from a conscious, positive experience...peace~n~love ~honey is b-ing 1 with the 1~

Too true. We saw him on 7/7/07 at the Target Center and the sound was horrible. Mostly because of the arena, but there were problems with the soundboard too. It happens. We wenty w some friends of mine whom had never seen him and were really disappointed(and paid a shitload of money for their seats), but those are the consequences. Some people get turned off for good. For me, I've seen him over 40 times with great sound. Sucks to lose the $, but I've seen him for free or $10 countless times.
