In the battle of Diamonds and Pearls vs. Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic I would probably declare a scoreless tie. However, I quite like at least a few songs on Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic ("Tangerine," "So Far, So Pleased," "I Love U, But I Don't Trust U Anymore," "Silly Game," "Strange But True" and "Wherever U Go, Whatever U Do"). They aren't fantastic songs but small gems. Actually, I think I just talked myself into preferring Rave over Diamonds.

I completely agree. It's not that they both don't have duds, it's just that D&P's duds are so much worse.

I MUCH prefer Diamonds and Pearls to 3121. In my own personal opinion, all that 3121 has going for it is Lolita and Black Sweat, while, with the exception of Jughead, I can't think of a song on Diamonds and Pearls that I don't like. So...yeah, I much prefer Diamonds and Pearls over 3121. No question.

I still don't understand why people hate Jughead so much (I'm being serious), yet they never mention songs like Daddy Pop, Walk Don't Walk and Push, all of which were far worse (imo, of course). At least Jughead was funky - what's funky about 'Walk Don't Walk'? And 'Daddy Pop' I just find to be terribly annoying.. one of the few Prince songs I can't stand to listen to start to finish. And 'Push' has Tony M. on it too, so why isn't it hated??

D&P. Sure the lows are worse than 3121. And Tony M barfed all over it. But that's only because 3121 is inoffensive elevator music. D&P has Thunder, Cream, Gett Off, Strollin, Insatiable and Thunder. Nothing on 3121 is as strong as the good tracks on D&P. And D&P has Rosie!

'Jughead', 'Walk Don't Walk', 'Daddy Pop' are trash to me. If I remembered what 'Push' sounds like, I'd probably not like that one either. I'm not even a fan of 'Thunder' to be honest. The only songs I don't remember liking that much on 3121 are 'Incense & Candles' & 'Get On The Boat'. While D&P may have the bigger pop hits, 3121 is far more consistant imo...

Has 2b 3121 just the song 3121 kicks d&p arse.....The only song im not keen on is Satisfied but the rest of 3121 just rocks and Beautiful,Loved and blessed is a far greater song than Diamonds and Pearls...

I have to say D&P. I like 3121 but D&P has a special place for me. When D&P first came out I was very young. I had been listening to Prince for like 2 years and it was all still knew. I was so young I did not even realize how dirty Get Off was. It took a few years like until the early 2000's for me to dig some of the material like Insatiable and Willing and Able but in my late teens I began to appreciate these songs. I'm not gonna try to be some cynical dumb ass and say 3121 sucks. It has its moments but not those memories.

3121. D&P had too much super corny shit and Tony M on it. Plus, it was such a HUGE letdown after he released a nice gem like Graffiti Bridge, and 3121 was an improvement on Musicology.

At least he had projects and shit come out of D&P, with actual real, halfway decent videos, an album video collection, a maxi-single - each mix with its own video, and high visibility all around. 3121 started off looking like he was gonna put muscle behind it, and then it fizzled quickly. He dropped his little 3121 The Movie plans, which may have been for the best, but still there weren't too many projects that were released to promote this 3121 "era".

You people picking 3121 are fuckin crazy :O It's got some good stuff but come oooonnn.
