Possible MJ collabs?? I´m sitting here with the "For The Record" book, which enlists all MJ´s music. And under the "Rumour has it" section it sites two songs that "COULD" be collaborations between MJ and Prince. Have any of you heard about this before? Maybe if someone has "The Vault" book they could check out if it says something about it??
"IT´S GONNA BE A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT": Rumoured collaboration between Michael and Prince - remains unconfirmed. (could there be a duet version of it???)
"HOT LITTLE BITCH": Rumoured collaboration between Michael and Prince - possibly confused with "Hot Thing" from Prince´s "Sign O´The Times". (It really doesn´t sound like a title MJ would sing but could there be anything to this??) |

^^I don't know about that (I did see the Hot title mentioned on MJJC though), but I read once that Mike was supposed to do one side of the Batman soundtrack and Prince the other. But I don't think they were actually going to work together on the songs. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton |

Never heard about IGBABN being a duet, I think that's erroneous, the other one sounds totally made up, but I wish it wasn't!
MJ did want Prince to duet on 'Bad', but Prince famously declined. He did submit 'Wouldn't You Love To Love Me' for Bad (the album), but it wasn't used either. |

If Prince declined to collaborate for "Bad" then more than likely he never did any future work with MJ. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

It's probably rumored because MJ included an instrumental cover of that song during the Bad tour. The other one is obviously fake. Michael was very religious and family friendly in the 80s, he never would have done a song with that title.
The Batman, Bad and Wouldn't You Love To Love Me rumors are all true, but nothing came of any of them.
P.S. - this thread is going to be locked any second now just like every other Prince-MJ thread, and redirected to the MJ sticky, as it should be since bringing up MJ in a Prince forum is basically troll bait. |

Quincy Jones talks about this on the 2001 Special Edition version of the Bad album. He said that Prince was in the studio when Bad (the song) was being recorded. This IS a Prince thread afterall, so I don´t see why it should be closed just because I mention MJ´s name as a possible collaborator. But if they do, so B it... |

From what I heard, Prince didn't wanna do the song because the first line of the song was "Yo Butt Iz Mine" and he didn't like the concept of MJ saying that to Prince Honestly I'm a huge MJ fan but I agree that it doesn't seem so fair for Prince to play Wesley Snipes character when it's supposed to be a "collaboration"... |

The first one is Prince being polite, the second is Prince being funny.
Obviously, Prince didn't want in on the track because it would be like playing second fiddle to MJ - his track, his album. |

Possible MJ collabs??....
I HOPE NOT...... !
Prince should stay far away from MJ material, imo.
To sing MJ songs live is bad, a collab would be badder..... Prince 4Ever. |

Please. Both were talented genius musicians who made a huge impact on their generation. No need to hate. Both of them are equally talented and respected in many different fields, and I'm sure that a duet by them would be great. I don't understand all this hate coming from Prince fans towards MJ fans or just MJ in general. Can't we just get along?
Anyways, this thread will be locked because of you-know-who. |

^^^ Same here--I've never understood this Prince vs. MJ mentality. I loved them both equally in the early 80s. They are equal in their different musical genuises but totally different as far as their individual music goes. There is plenty of room to acknowedge both of them as singular artists in the music field without comparisons and/or bashing... The moonwalk was an old dance from Soul Train and dates back long ago. The "Shalamar guy" taught him, and he had more moves than just the moonwalk that were amazing. Don't even try to discredit his dancing, it makes you look like a fool. Yes, both are equally talented. Stop trying to start shit. Michael is one of the most influential, GENIUS musicians in the world, as is Prince. A musician is someone who writes, performs, or makes music, thus putting Michael in that category. So both were musicians. And both were amazingly talented and gifted. End of. |

The reason why Prince declined to be on Bad was simply because he didnt want to be on a song with lyrics written by MJ and music produced by Quincy Jones, with no real imput by Prince whatsoever PERIOD. That's why Prince offered Wouldn't You Love to Love Me? But I'm guessing that MJ declined not only because it doesn't fit in Bad anyway but because it's all Prince. Maybe a collaboration would have been possible if the music was produced by Prince and the lyrics written by MJ. |

There IS no need to be so negative though. You could've just said that you wanted them not to duet without being so negative, calling Mike Wacko, and the what not. |
