THIS was not the intention when creating this thread. If you look at the thread title it says "Possible MJ collabs", which means that what you / we are going to discuss are the possebility of the songs I mentioned could be collaborations between the two. So please don´t ruin the thread with the same idiotic Prince vs. MJ debate that will get the thread closed or removed.

The reason why Prince declined to be on Bad was simply because he didnt want to be on a song with lyrics written by MJ and music produced by Quincy Jones, with no real imput by Prince whatsoever PERIOD. That's why Prince offered Wouldn't You Love to Love Me? But I'm guessing that MJ declined not only because it doesn't fit in Bad anyway but because it's all Prince. Maybe a collaboration would have been possible if the music was produced by Prince and the lyrics written by MJ.

It´s a little late now since MJ has passed but I find the idea of Prince producing and co-writing an album for MJ WITH MJ, and them doing a couple of duets on it, a cool thought. I know it would have never happened but I like playing with the thought. People can say what they want but noone could say it wouldn´t be exciting to hear what they could´ve come up with 2gether smile

Maybe it will but if you could try keeping it to the subject, then hopefully it will NOT be closed since it´s a Prince / MJ collaboration thread.

But if the BS continues even I see the closing coming...

I still could never imagine Bad if Prince had been a part of it. I just literally cannot see it coming to fruition at all. Because Bad to Prince is cussing someone out and kickign thier ass. Spitting in thier eye.

Michae's idea of bad if throwing a shoe at his father or using his salad fork all through a formal dinner.

Totally different ideas.

It's a common misconception that "Bad" was supposed to be their duet. In reality it was "The Way You Make Me Feel". Yes, Prince is Michael's "pretty baby with the high heels on."*

MICHAEL: Hey Pretty Baby With The High Heels On. You Give Me Fever Like I've Never, Ever Known.

PRINCE: You're Just A Product Of Loveliness I Like The Groove Of Your Walk, Your Talk, Your Dress.

MICHAEL: I Feel Your Fever From Miles Around I'll Pick You Up In My Car And We'll Paint The Town.

PRINCE: Just Kiss Me Baby And Tell Me Twice That You're The One For Me

TOGETHER: The Way You Make Me Feel

MICHAEL: (The Way You Make Me Feel)

TOGETHER: You Really Turn Me On

PRINCE: (You Really Turn Me On)

TOGETHER: You Knock Me Off Of My Feet

MICHAEL: (You Knock Me Off Of My Feet)

TOGETHER: My Lonely Days Are Gone

PRINCE: (My Lonely Days Are Gone)

*DISCLAIMER: I made all of this up. lol

I think there have always been plans in motion over the years to team Michael and Prince up.

My opinion - the only way Prince and Michael would've worked on anything together, would've had to do with Stevie Wonder.

They were going to do Ebony and Ivory but kept fighting about MJ having to be Ivory.

They met around 1994/1995 and had a meeting (and nobody was allowed in according to engineers that worked with mike) and nobody really knows what was disclosed either.

I always say how awesome and likely it would be for the both of them to have recorded something. Prince of course we KNOW has in the vault thousands of songs. MJ has claimed to have written over 300 songs for each album. I just hope he has also had time to record them as well. As many songs Prince has in his vault, I always hope SOMEWHERE, there is a collaboration with MJ! That would be fantastic! smile

Initially the conflict between Prince and Michael Jackson dates back to when Prince was still up and coming. Keep in mind this was the guy wearing leg warmers, cursing on his records (records not CDs) and most R&B stars thought he was a gay. At this time Prince tried to hook up with LaToya Jackson(her choice of singing Private Joy is related to this as Prince wanted to produce her album) and was shunned by Joe Jackson, (he didn't want Janet sounding like that weirdo Prince when she Janet worked with Jimmy and Terry) At that point Prince began the anti Jackson grudge. When Michael just sings and Prince, sings, plays instruments, writes and produces but still has to compete with Michael's stardom animosity ensues. At every point until Thriller, Prince was always indirectly, competing with Michael his first pop hit I wanna be your lover was right under michaels Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough. With 1999 you have Thriller. the Prince and the Revolution live concert at the conclusion of the extended version of when doves cry, Prince drops his one glove with band crescendo, that is aimed at Michael. and as Prince began to rise in popularity, true musicians began to respect him. This was when Quincy tried his best to get them to record together. The stories regarding bad, wouldn't u love to love me are true. But Quincy, also tried to them together for Michael Jackson's invincible cd. Which didn't occur, again because of Prince. Listen, for those of you that will respond with no way Prince is to talented to perform with Michael, remember, Prince wasn't always making records, he was a big afro wearing black kid dancing his lil ass off to the Jackson 5's I want you back, ABC, the love you save and dancing machine like every black kid in America.

I didn't know about that, but it would have not been possible because at the time when MJ was doing Invincible, Prince was working on The Rainbow Children. Hence, they were on totally different vibes and inspiration. It would have made more sense to try to get MJ and Prince to work together in 1990-1991 when MJ was doing Dangerous and Prince was doing Diamonds and Pearls. If you listen to those two albums, you can see the possibility of them two working together at the time. Again, it would have worked if both of them contributed equally (music produced by Prince, written by MJ)
