Hey orgers, we are always reading and talking about his most known records like Purple Rain, Parade etc., but what do you think of his first album "For You". I recognized that it is seldom discussed on the org.

Its a pretty good record. The two best songs on it are "Just as long as we're togethar" and "I'm Yours". Inconsistent but pretty good.

I listened to it 2 days ago and i really like it, more than his self titled second actually.

Yeah, I re-discovered it today and I think it is very underrated. It deserves much more attention. I'm chillin' to "My Love Is Forever" right now...

I enjoy it. It's got some good tunes on it, and it set the stage for what was to become the man we know now...

BUT, I much prefer the sophomore album, self-titled. That's just me. For You is a good start, but when "Prince" was released was when he really started to shine.

Anyway...someone tell me-I've heard a rumor that Prince was/is such a perfectionist that he made himself catch a cold to make "So Blue" have the sound it has? I know that it's probably bullshit, but I find it interesting bullshit.

Brilliant debut album, I it,

sounds a bit influenced by Stevie Wonder.

ive been playing it alot as alot of the songs in 2011 have so much meaning 2 me!!!!Ive always loved JALAWT & MLI4EVER but the other songs now have a special meaning 2me its a great album.4 some1 of his age at the time it was recorded Princes voice is simply amazing!!!!

This is where it began. I officially fell in love with Prince's falsetto. It's beautiful, so pure. Just lovely.

For You is such a pretty song, it showcases his voice so well.

Soft & Wet is always in heavy roatation with me anyway. One of my favorite jams. This was the first Prince song that I ever heard. When it came on the radio, I thought, "Who, or what is that"? It was great, and it still sounds great decades later.

never like this album while back. It didn't seem to have that extra "umph". I did like the intro track and In love and S &W...but that was it. lhaven't listened to it in at least 10 years....lemme give i t a spin.

Love the album but "My Love Is Forever," is one of my favorites.

1 listen 2 this album and I was hooked back in 1978.

Those multitracked vocals were sick and still sounds fresh today.
