- Prince: Chaos,Disorder and Revolution, by Jason Draper, this is pretty new out - haven't read it so can't comment.
- Possessed: The Rise and Fall of Prince, by Alex Hahn. Quite gossipy in places, some fans took a dislike to, well, everything about this book, but the author had access to the Uptown teams research, so the info is mostly sound. A good read that fills in some more tabloidy bits that the Uptown books/mags tend to stay clear of. If you don't think Prince is a deity incarnate, you shouldn't have a problem with the tone of this book.
- DMSR, Per Nilsen. By far the most respected and detailed Prince book currently available. It covers only the first 10 years of Prince's recording career though.
- The Vault, Uptown (Per Nilsen et all). Out of print and mail order only God-like tome, contains detailed chronology, and lists galore for the ultimate Prince info nerd-out
Since The Vault is out of print, the nearest thing is http://www.princevault.com/ which isn't affiliated with the book, but is an excellent reference source. | |
