Does PRINCE owe you a "lifetime" of FREE MUSIC? I don't know about you guys, but I NEVER got a refund for my LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP to the NPG Music Club. So, as far as I'm concerned, my "lifetime membership" is still in "full effect".
Thoughts? | |

Correction...
It was the lifetime of: the Prince-website.
Not exactly the fan's lifetime.
Irritating nonetheless.... Prince 4Ever.

This guy has put out an album a year basically for the past 30 years. Cut him some slack.

No one that bought that lifetime membership to the NPGMC thinks Prince OWES them a lifetime of FREE MUSIC! That's a bunch of BULLSHIT and you know it!
There are PLENTY of reasons WHY some fans aren't so forgiving of Prince these days but that's not one of 'em! So I'd be careful if I were you because you are trying to play around in some very dangerous waters.
[Edited 7/10/11 6:52am] I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

What were the terms and conditions of the NPG Music Club?
Maybe when he closed up shop he should've done was a pair of concert tickets, a signed letter thanking them for their support, or sent out some signed memorabilia I guess.
Very very few people have successful fan clubs unless there's a huge fanbase like Bieber or Gaga, and they're using social media to do the same thing fan clubs used to do. Twitter wound up on the radar because Bieber's manager Tweeted a mall appearance and they were ill equipped to handle it. I think artists can have a lot of fun with their fanbase on Twitter - I've seen Tweet scavenger hunts for hidden concert tickets and signed stuff. Tony Hawk hid some skating memorabilia in skate parks and the winner Tweeted the photos of their win. You've never had this kind of immediate access between performers and their fanbase...ever. I think it's a good relationship building for artists, and people who aren't going to stand around waiting to see if they're going to sign stuff. They can just ask them or find out who to go through.
I also think artists would prefer to hear questions from the fanbase over journalists, but the hardest and most personal questions are also going to be from the fanbase.

No, I never signed up for that crap anyway.

No, he doesn't owe me nothing. He doesn't owe anybody anything. Nor do I owe him.
I know there are some out there that feel different, because of the money that they've spent on clubs and concerts or whatever. But, that doesn't entitle you to any more than he is willing to give. It was your choice to spend your money on him/his music. The best you can hope for is a refund, but that only if he cancel the show.

NPG club....
don't remind me of that. You know how the elderly get scammed, and they are too embarrassed to tell anyone??
Well, that's me. I KNEW before I joined that it was going to be some sheit.
But I finally broke down and joined because word was out that Prince and this chick called Tamar was going on this big tour and I didn't want to get nosebleed seats again when they came to my town.
So I joined, one month before A) he closed the tour down, then B) closed the club down.
I didn't get sheeeit for my membership
I ain't mad though......
