Does Prince change some of the words to Purple Rain now?

I don't know if I'm hearing it right but the part where he suppose to say "it's such a shame, our friendship had to end"

Now to me, it sounds like he instead says, "it's such a shame, it's such a shame, this friendship will never end"

? ? ? ?

I don't know if what I'm hearing is correct or right. Can anyone clear that up for me and also if you know why he change it?

Prince forgets they lyrics to some of his songs. He admitted on Lopez Tonight that he did this.

And Prince almost never plays Purple Rain, preferring to play newer material, in accordance with his many previous statements that he was never going to play his hits again and Purple Rain was at the top of that list. Ergo, Prince never plays Purple Rain so he forgets the lyrics to it.

The last time he played it was last night. And the night before that. And the night before that. And the last concert. And the concert before that one, and so forth...so it's natural that he would forget the lyrics since he doesn't really play the song anymore.
