Prince: The White Album

Was this an avtually album he was working on?

I remember when I first became a Prince fan, I downloaded "Erotic City", and it said it was on a album titled The White Album.

Or was it a bootleg or something.

This is the first I heard of this. I'm thinking it's bootleg.

It was a bootleg, 2 CD set. One being the (at the time) unreleased Black album, and the other was titled the White album. I think it was a portion of the Dortmund Lovesexy concert.

Mine was a single disc.

It wasn't my first bootleg, but, it was the first Prince bootleg I saw or got on the CD format. Prior, all that I had seen were on vinyl.

The label is Neutral Zone, manufactured in 1989. On the disc itself it says:

Betty's Boy - Live At The Palace

So as to not get busted, a lot of boot manufacturers put fake info on the labels to avoid detection.

The contents include the Dortmund show, from the Intro through Let's Go Crazy, which of course, is incomplete.

A few years after I got it, I upgraded to the 2CD 'Livesexy' and gave White Album away. A few years later I burned a copy of Livesexy for the same friend and he gave me back The White Album for nostalgia's sake.

Interesting notes:

The disc says made in Korea but the back cover lists Neutral Zone as located in France, there's even an address... That seems ballsy, to me. Might be why I never saw another boot by that "label".

The picture on the front cover is from The Mountains video shoot, the one on the back cover is from the Controversy era.

The track listing on the back cover is not accurate.

Even though it was incomplete, until I upgraded, I loved this disc. Wow! 22 years ago.... I'm old! biggrin

Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'...

I should have clarified when I said 2 CD set, I meant they were companion discs, but packaged separately.
