Duh, of course. He's my favorite artist. I'll go to every damn show actually. I'm there to support him and show respect. I never been to a Prince concert, I would love to go see him just to say I 've been.
I bet if you DID go to one, you wouldn't mind the classics being played. |

Maybe you should go to a few shows first before you talk shit express your opinion on his live shows.
Just because I never went a show, doesn't mean I wouldn't get tired of hearing the same damn songs. |

Dig this. If I go to my first Prince concert, and he play the songs that I said he play over and over I wouldn't mind because I wanna see and feel those songs live. But if I come back to more shows, and he's playing the same songs he played before, it wouldn't be exciting anymore. But it would be exciting knowing I'm standing in the same place as Prince. |

You're quite young though. I think if you wish on Prince to do different shows, it all depends on Prince's mind of thought and what he decides to do. He was always unpredictable. Maybe you should've been born in another generation? |

I don't know why he doesn't perform that one. That's not "sexually explicit" as far as I know. |

I shudder to think of this current band playing a lot of seldomly or never played tracks these days. They would just fuck them up (and not in a good way) and probably turn it to some jazz little lounge stuff or incorporate some B.S. lyrics where they don't fit and just ruin the song completely.
If that's what he's going to do, I'd prefer him to just play his little hits and be done with it. Thank God for the boots that document his TRUE legacy on the stage! |

If you attend several shows on a single tour then your going to hear several songs repeatedly. He's not going to compose an entirely new setlist because you're buying tickets to multiple nights. Some people actually just go to one show and are happy with what they hear at it. A Prince isn't just about the song choices. It's about the experience of seeing one of the greatest performers alive do his thing and the atmosphere is charged at every gig. you meet othere fans who might be diehards or newbies and everyone is there for a common reason, they love Prince. I can hear Purple Rain a thousand times and it's cool because I'll be more upset on they day he can no longer play it for me again. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming! |

mid 90's people got pissed because he played all new stuff and ignored his old stuff. now he plays all the hits and people still get pissed. maybe prince probably just plays what he wants now and doesnt care what people think because either way they will be pissed. you cant please everybody so you might as well just get onstage and please yourself, there will at least be a few people (such as myself) that would just be happy to see him onstage no matter what he plays. Welcome to the Org...Where fans can continue to make the same ol' post, a million fucking times, whether it's true or not...lol
Nevermind that Prince recently played a gig overseas with the following set-list...
Joy In Repetition w/ Maceo Parker
The Love We Make
Mountains w/ Seal
Come Together
Alphabet St.
Dear Mr. Man
Stand!
I Want You Back
When We're Dancing Close and Slow
*unidentified duet* The Look Of Love Guitar
I Like It There
Colonized Mind
Bambi
Encore 1:
Johnny B. Goode (over Peach music)
Peach
Encore 2:
The Beautiful Ones
Encore 3:
Dance (Disco Heat)
Baby I'm A Star
Again, it's OK to criticize the man when warranted...But the constant hyperbole that some folks throw out there has gotten silly... |

Maybe people shouldn't got to 10 concerts in a 21 night run expecting an entirely new setlist each night. It's unrealistic.
The funny thing is that everyone who complains about this topic given the chance would still attend every single show they could afford to go to anyway.
1. How is it unrealistic? Apparently he rehearses "around 300 songs," would it kill him to play some of them?
2. Stop telling us that everyone would attend every show they could, no they would not, stop talking for everyone.

I'm speaking on all the people I know who attended all 6 shows in the NYC/NJ area and on the dude(StillWaiting) who went to all the Carolina shows then complained about every single one. Also check the threads on the Forum 21 nights run and see how many people attended multiple shows. BTW - StillWaiting said himself that if he had the chance to do it again that he would.
