What if Prince made a new movie?? Do you like the idea?
Do you think it's possible?
Do you think he could/should or it's the thing that was cool in the past but not now?
That would mean a new album *wink wink* as a 'soundtrack'?
Give your opinion
[Edited 7/8/11 10:28am] Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

I wouldn't go see it, that's for sure.

Do you like the idea? No, absolutely not.
Do you think it's possible? Yes, but it would have to be indie--no studio is going to pay for it.
Do you think he could/should or it's the thing that was cool in the past but not now? It was never cool. Even Purple wasn't a good movie. I mean, for a musical of its time, it was good. But that doesn't actually make it a good movie.
That would mean a new album *wink wink* as a 'soundtrack'? I don't want to be put in a position of cringing every time I hear the album to think it was related to a dreadful movie.

A concert movie like SOTT would be great.
If you're talking an actual piece of cinematic art ripe with good acting, well developed characters, a believable plot and a cool backdrop then.....somebody other than Prince has to write, direct, and produce. We know all too well Prince can't direct for shit and his script writing is quite limited.
His acting isn't all that bad; once he gets over himself. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer.

Do we really need another fake concert?

No, please.
After 3 terrible and stupid attempts of making movies don't give the man ideas!!

If it's a movie like the others he has done, as much as I enjoy watching them, it would probably not be successful, only hardcore fans (maybe not even) would go see it. It would have to be a role in a production, or a cameo, or it will just be a cheesy thing about love and religion, which would not be very good for Prince's popularity among non-fans. And he probably couldn't do a movie with love scenes as in the others because, even if he looks like a 20 years old beautiful man, people would find it a bit odd to see him in a love story with a young starlette...
As a fan though, just to see him on the big screen for 1-2 hours would make it enjoyable for me, whatever the story is hahaha!
Maybe he should just release a DVD with concerts he has recently done on it with backstage shooting and a lot of close up! Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

I'd like to see Prince make a japanese animae based on the LoveSexy album.
He could also do a short sci-fi flick based on a compilation of computer blue, ripopgodazipper and animal kingdom. I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

He got disenfranchised with making movies after "Graffiti Bridge" bombed. He did attempt to make a film in the '90s but I think it was only a VHS release. Then that was it.

I like the idea of making a concert documentary film. Like Behind-the-Scene Documentary....Something like the one Martin Scorsese did for The Stones... It'd be so cool and I'd definitely go see it!!!!!

Why Not?
And Under The Cherry Moon that was funny and stylish.... I liked it.
GB was worse that I could ever imagine.
But how many tix could another movie sell, that is a problem...
so.... maybe not after all.........

I'd like to see him get involved in animated films and shorts. Elton John produced and licensed his songs to "Gnomeo and Juliet", plus he can work with some great creative people. It would all have to be storyboarded out, and of course he should be one of the voices. An animated Prince can be any age and do things he physically couldn't do.
As far as live action, just a straightforward concert film, or a one night only live show to be shown in theaters and streamed at home. Theatergoers could get a free CD or poster.

cold but true
I just think his movie making days are far behind him, I mean I enjoy PR & UTCM quite frequently, but I just couldnt imagine Prince in another film of any kind, a documentary would be nice, but P wouldnt agree to it, and Ive seen him live enough on film and in person up close, that an edited cut version wouldnt do much for me "How Can I Stand To..Stay Where I Am? Poor Butterfly Who..Dont Understand." P

I think his next movie should be behind the scenes doing voice overs. We know he can do funny voices. Prince's Sarah

Doing voices over would be cool too, I mean.. his voice.. HIS VOICE is so beautiful and deep he should have done the voice of one of the penguins in Madagascar! hahaha Or have his own character in a movie and do the voices, like Elton John did
Or something like he did with the Muppets, it was so nice and he seemed to have a lot of fun Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

Well, look at Madonna with Evita and Jamie Foxx with Ray Charles and Sasha Baron Cohen is suppose to play Freddy Mercury from Queen. And yes, he should and also write a book.

prince should make a movie like the nutty professer where he plays every role Bogey and Bacall, peanut butter and jelly, Wall being on fucking point, is "classic" dipshit. An iphone is top shelf technology. Get it straight. This thing is 4g. -Wall the great

Lol I'd love to see it. Something like his honest self of today and performance scenes. Maybe a move-like documentary Yes, at 19, I finally saw the Revolution, a legendary band. And I talked to Wendy!!! In addition to seeing Prince, I have now lived life. Thank you Purple People!!

Do you like the idea?
Hell yes!
Do you think it's possible?
Shiiiiiiit. If he can afford to make shelved projects after shelved projects, he can afford this.
Do you think he could/should or it's the thing that was cool in the past but not now?
If its a sequel to Purple Rain, then yes it would be kinda sad. But say a cameo or dare I say even a *musical* with somebody else craftily writing/directing this piece without any interference then yes it would be cool. Although, I'm more partial to the cameo factor, I could definitely see Prince acting a damn fool in a special guest scene from a Judd Apatow flick, he won't spew the same filthiness like your typical Judd film, but he can def bring out the comedian inside himself without it.
That would mean a new album *wink wink* as a 'soundtrack'?
I'm all for any new music from him regardless. Its already been a year since the last album and it feels like I'm ready for whatever comes out of him, once he get off the recording break he's going through

See how trauma effects one's memory?
You're right, but I do remember the Freedom Train podcast guy saying that Liz Smith wrote in her column that there was supposedly some talk about "Purple Rain 2".
Now that would've been a sad view.

REAL sad especially considering all these guys are way older, it would've looked tragic.

No Purple Rain 2... Simply something new, something 2011, yet something Prince I liked the voices over idea
Or a more independant movie like Janet Jackson is doing those days...
Maybe the two of them in a movei...lol, would be fun to see their real acting skills.
Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

Janet has her own film production company... tell P to give her a call.

The only kind of movie he could realistically do at this point is a concert film (à la Sign O The Times).
But I doubt he could get financing even for that. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
