The only kind of movie he could realistically do at this point is a concert film (à la Sign O The Times).

But I doubt he could get financing even for that.

Right. Since he don't trust corporations that much I doubt we would see a concert film again especially since even how the SOTT film was managed.

Do you like the idea?

Yes, it would another deranged, you-must-see-it-even-if-it-sucks project

Do you think it's possible?

When hell freezes ova...

Do you think he could/should or it's the thing that was cool in the past but not now?

It was cool in the past; now Prince would be forced to hire Beyoncé and Timbaland in order to make a "modern", current film...which would suck...

That would mean a new album *wink wink* as a 'soundtrack'?

Yes, but you couldn't find in the stores. Just as a bonus cd with the DVD version...distributed by The News of the World newspaper...oh, wait, nevermind...

The best thing about Graffiti Bridge is that nobody saw it, and the few who have can't really understand it or connect it much with Purple Rain. I think at one point, Purple Rain 2 might have seemed like a bad idea, but now I think it could work. Imagine a Tyler Perry type musical/film, with all the moral and sexual drama, but Prince's music instead. I doubt Prince would allow it to happen, but another great Prince movie could still be possible.

I don't even think a new Prince concert film would be that exciting.Sign O The Times was so amazing because it captured Prince and his band at the peak of their powers. It was a wonderful moment in time.He wouldn't be able to duplicate that magic these days.

He got disenfranchised with making movies after "Graffiti Bridge" bombed. He did attempt to make a film in the '90s but I think it was only a VHS release. Then that was it.

Are you referring to The Undertaker? that was barely a movie, just a glorified music video, although the music itself was rockin' !

When was the last time you saw him live? He still has the magic.

And let's be fair - Sign O The Times was a "concert" film - ie, it wasn't shot live.

I like the idea of making a concert documentary film. smile

Like Behind-the-Scene Documentary....Something like the one Martin Scorsese did for The Stones...

It'd be so cool and I'd definitely go see it!!!!!

What he SHOULD do is get someone who's expert at making documentaries (like Spike Lee who has a new documentary out thats great, although its not in major release) and have them do a concert documentary...

Change it one more time..

I have inside information that this is indeed a possibility for the W2A Europe Tour. We'll see.

I'd rather him release whatever footage was shot the Jon Bloom referenced in his book sometime around the Controversy-1999 era. Whatever that prelude to Purple Rain was.

I wouldn't mind seeing a proper sequel to Purple Rain. And pretend Graffiti Bridge wasn't made.

Yes to both sentiments.

A real documentary, made by an outsider who got total access would be important.

A well written script as a sequel to Purple Rain based on Prince today could work. There were rumors it was getting developed.

Yeah,I know that SOTT wasn't a "real" concert film, but you know what I mean lol It was still a riveting performance! Prince performing tracks from one of his strongest, most inspired albums......onstage with (arguably) the best band that he ever had....there's just no way that a 2011 concert film would have the same effect.

You're referring to 'The Second Coming',a planned concert film/documentary that Prince shot in early 1982 during the 'Controversy' tour.I too wish that Prince would release it now.
