He is not. I am. I do not care. Sometimes his lyrics reflect a certain freedom, other times they reflect limitations. Nobody is perfect, but it seems Prince is a very kewl dude. The question is; are YOU? | |

I am gay. Just wanted to know if he was cool with it. Most Christian religions, including Jehovah Witnesses, find it sinful. I would feel better about supporting him as an artist if I knew that he was cool with my lifestyle. I certainly respect his rights to his beliefs.

The P of old clearly wasn't troubled by homosexuality. In fact, one of the things I loved about him early on was that he posed the question about himself ("Am I straight or gay?") without feeling the need to provide an answer. He simply didn't care enough about what anyone thought to bother.
But, it's obviously a different story with the new P. Although it seems like he's trying to be low-key with his beliefs on this matter, two recent situations tell us all we need to know about where his head is now. The first was his reported comment to a group of guys at a ONA afterparty. (Paraphrasing) "Where are your girlfriends at? I get nervous when I see a group of guys together without any girls." WTF!!! He best not come around me in the club because I'll be surrounded by dicks like a mf'er. The second bit of evidence was somebody's report that at a ONA show, Prince indicated (don't remember his actual comment) that he wanted the guys to stop shouting "I love you" to him. Now that's just plain sad. But, people change I guess. As long as he keeps the bs to a minimum, I'll be able to hang. Peace, David | |
