I was reading some of the lyrics from Prince's COME album some time ago and I remembered that once someone here mentioned that Prince got ideas for the album's lyrics from King Soloman or some Biblical song-book or something. Please clarify this for me and tell me more about the Biblical song-book and where I can read it.

I think it is regarding the book Proverbs, and the individual you are referring to is King Solomon

I believe you are talking about the Songs Of Solomon from the Bible. These books are very unique, making no direct theological statements, although some believe some may be implied. It speaks of the love between a man (the lover) and a women (the beloved). There is a great debate over how to understand or interpret this book. Some see it as allegorical to God's relationship to Israel. Later Christian interpreters applied it to the relationship between Christ and the Church. To others it is just a collection of love poems. It was probably written by Solomon while traveling in Israel's northern villages to a local village girl, whom he later comes back to and carries to Jerusalem to be one of his wives.
