Will Prince or won't he release any CD anymore? My question and matter concern all new material Prince might release and how will he release them? .. As Prince has told to "the Parisian's" newspaper, accordingly to this paper, Prince won't release any CDs, recordings, anymore..? Well, so, can someone or Prince himself tell me, how will we his "favorite audience", be able to get to new sounds, melodies and songs in the future? As internet isn't a faithful media, as radios , indeed all of them don't broadcast interesting vibes and waves nowadays... Nevertheless, internet is the media onto which fans and people stick on whenever they are willing to discover artists and their work.. Some radios, few but still are striving to promote real music, not only commercials.. So tell me, Monsieur Prince: what are the issues and solutions left? for us to get to what you work on, to what you want us to listen to?
Thank you in advance for your opinions and answers

Prince finally realized that his 'fanbase' rather dissect his interviews, critique his clothes, give him financial advice, pick his girlfriends/wives, choose his band members, tell him what he can play at live shows and discuss wheter he's bald or not more than listen to music. So no new CDs. When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Like he said in The Guardian, or what he meant with what he said:
when he is payed for his creations (his music), then he will release albums again.
Basically it's just a matter of a new record deal and => $$$$$$.
at least that's what I read out of THIS:
to me Prince is saying: he's taking a break, untill something shows up, a record deal whatever, a break untill he is making money again, somehow.

Besides,
remember what Prince said in 1993 (the headline):
and also what Alan Leeds said (the conclusion)........

He said he won't, but at this point I honestly don't believe him, no.
We may not get new music this year, but I believe he will eventually release something again. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

Man, he needs to open the NPG music club back up, and release CD's exclusively from there. Or downloads. That was HE WILL GET PAID.
I don't know about the rest of ya'all, but I pay for stuff when it's made available.

^ You wishing he re-open the NPG Music Club is like Stevie Wonder releasing a new album - it ain't happening.

I don't think piracy is as rampant as he makes it out to be. I would have agreed 5 years ago.
I also think he had to put the brakes on recording new music if he's going to start going through what does sell - his back catalog, and how he makes money - his live shows.
I don't know if he understood what an advance even means - it's another word for a loan. The time he should have stopped recording is when Warners wanted to re-sign him and offered him that 100 million. He should have walked away and gone independent, or with another label that would've guaranteed him master tapes and publishing at the end of the decade.

He did? When? and also why hasnt he taken or advice? So no he didnt, Plus how would he know any of this if the internet is dead? & digital music is trash?
Seriously though: P makes his money from performing, he's a great performer, atleast 70% of us would testify to that. He hasnt made much off his latest albums, his fault really. I love P but the truth is he wants to see some green $$$$$ for his musical contribution, or whats the use of being upheld as a professional musician? Pro basically means an official duty, you work a job or perform a duty to get paid. cant judge him 4 it, but I think this whole musical rant thing is gettin old, and he should play more talk less, and oh I bet in the coming years, we will have a new album, just NOT this year. Well, if what he was planning on releasing next is anywhere near what he did since 2004 it'll be perfect for me if he never releases new music again.
No need to dilute his great opuses further in a pool of liquid poop.

But I'm sure he'll be once more true to his word and we'll never see new albums released the same as we couldn't hear the hits live again since lots of years ago when he stated that he'd be playing them for the very last time.
Now that's what I call being consequent.

He had his chance - there have been too many bad experiences already. Enough people have been dissatisfied by his previous web offerings appearing, taking money and disappearing that it will take one hell of a web strategy to make any serious money out of it .
There has been no long-term strategy and too much short-term profit taking. With the current fees he earns from playing concerts, it's easier for him to state that 'The internet is dead' and continue living in a bubble.
And yes, I'm still waiting for my Lotusfail T-shirt...

He wants to be paid.. no problem with that, but how can we buy his stuff if he doesn't release them? Releeeeeeaaase iiiiiiiiit.... and I'll buy it... so simple Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

its not worth it to release anymore so why should he? They dont sell and he is not going to promote it to try and get it to sell. It just doesnt make sense to release anymore. I wouldnt if i were him. why bother?

I agree. It's like, what's the point? I feel like he's on auto-pilot anyway. He's given us enough music to last a lifetime.I think we will survive without a new Prince album.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
A better question would be: "how many fingers am I holding up?" And blindfold him since, you know, he can read minds.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah I care more about a Stevie album than Prince. Prince has done so much that he really DOESN'T have to do an album. It's his choice to rest from making albums if he chooses now. No one forced him lol

I'd rather that he spend his time focusing on remastering his catalog.I bet that many of us would be more excited about a newly remastered SOTT instead of a new album.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
he could spend the rest of his life touring and it would suit him down to the ground. play new songs at his shows, sell CD's of live recordings at his shows, rake in royalties from every live performance, plus whatever investments he has and publishing income from his old stuff. he has a 30 year rep behind him to guarantee ticket sales for as long as he wants to keep going.
so if you wanted to hear his new material, you'd either go to a show or buy a live CD. certain tracks of which may even end up on radio. "It's time for you to go to the wire."

I thought he sees himself as an artist. And artists don't do it just for the money, right? Remember that pathetic "money and art don't mix" clip on the Rave DVD?

they dont, but eventually you become self-sufficient enough to know how to mix oil with water.
