"Sometimes It Snows In April" Question. At the :18 second mark, is that a synth or Prince doing a technic?

It's later in the song, at about the 0:40 mark. It's Prince. There are no synths on Sometimes It Snows In April. | |

I know, it's just more prominent later on and I wasn't sure whether you were referring to THAT sound, as there's nothing that sounds like a "synth" at 0:18.

i always wondered this too... it starts out sounding exactly like a horn but turns into a vocal, i assume it is a vocal but it's pretty trippy. that whole intro always reminded me of jeff buckley. i'm blinded by the daisies in your yard.... | |

Good lord, IT'S PRINCE!!!
You can easily make that sound if you let air out through the side of your mouth only (and try to sing something like "Boooo"). It's got nothing to do with any synth tricks or Claire's orchestration. This is a live-take with no additional recording done to it. | |
