Some of y'all are crazy. While the director may or may not have told her to do something or other, her face is pure "UGH" when he kisses her. I've thought this since I first saw the movie. Her face is almost in a full-fledged RECOIL when he does it. And the face, make no mistake, is disgust.

She's supposed to be on the edge of crying in the movie Purple Rain, and when he kisses her it goes over the edge. This is after the news of his father's suicide attempt, and The Time ridiculing him. He is quiet, prettied up, and an eyelined martyr. And he has then chosen to play their song that they were pushing on him the whole time. And he does it incredibly. She's also supposed to somewhat stifle it because the character is onstage playing and trying to maintain control to perform. She's already almost there before he kisses her. Watch it on blu-ray! And no one ever claimed Wendy was the greatest actress!

Lot's of people crying (in real life or acting) looks like disgust, especially when they go into it trying to maintain composure and keep their eyes open.

The one in the video Kiss is just supposed to be silly and funny, included with shots like the veiled girl saying the male vocal, and Prince looking incredulous at the absurdity.

Her character was moved by the moment, and the actress is not very good. It was not a spontaneous thing, it was a scene from a movie.
