Be Glad That you are free?

Look like Prince is rebuking his classic chorus, "Be glad that you are free, for many a man are not" in place of, "it's not so bad to not be free, it means everyone is doing the same thing."

So that's the conclusion when one actually becomes "free" as Prince claims he now is. That's some sad shit

I always think of lines of his songs that are irrelevant to him now, like in America when it says "Teacher, why won't Jimmy pledge allegiance?" (it's probably not Jimmy, hell , now I can't get the name right but you know what I mean) and now Prince can't pledge allegiance! WTF?

Listening to some lyrics from 20Ten:

Act Of God

I got news for you, freedom ain't free
They lock you in a cell if you try to be
The ones who say no make history
Call it an act of God

Lavaux

There ain't nobody got no chains on me
I'm flying higher than any mountain, deeper than any sea

Very contradictory.

In this latest interview, Prince has officially revealed himself as the anti-Prince. He used to wish we all were nude. Now he wishes we all wore burqas. He used to not give a damn about what society tells us to do. Now he wants everyone to follow society's rules.

This interview is the equivalent of John Lennon giving an interview in the 1970s arguing that the U.S. should drop more bombs in Vietnam. Is anyone really surprised that people who were attracted to Prince are now disgusted by the anti-Prince? Just because you liked Anakin Skywalker doesn't make you a Darth Vader fan. Unless you are nuts.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Thank you. For those who aren't Star Wars fans, maybe another analogy would be Mitt Romney. If I voted for him in Massachusetts because he was pro-choice and pro-universal health care, I'm probably not going to vote for him now that he's pro-life and anti-universal health care. Or vice versa.

I've been hoping Prince comes back to Dallas for a concert but I really don't know if I could pay for a ticket now. It would be hard to listen to him sing "Controversy" or "Uptown" when he believes the opposite of what those songs say. I'd rather hear him sing TRC songs in the Darth Vader voice. At least then it would be genuine.

It's puzzling that he's still touring songs of the 80-82 era...

That's not quite how I meant it, but you can take it that way. For every brilliant lyric the man puts out, there's always one or two that're suspect. To be a fan you have to be willing to accept a little cheese and a some WTF-ness in the music.

That whole part of the article/interview really broke my heart, how could someone like Prince say that? I mean this is Prince were talkin eek I think his opinion on freedom(up til this point) was one of the things I admire greatly about him. Ive never looked @ P to be more than a man, so normally when he says something I disagree on. I shrug it off, as one man's opinion and I respect it. But this time no, no that was below human 2 me

"How Can I Stand To..Stay Where I Am? Poor Butterfly Who..Dont Understand." P

I take it you mean you are free in this thread only, because you are passing plenty of judgement in the other threads.
