I never really get the New vs. Old debate. There's great tracks and stinkers in every era. It doesn't have to be so black and white. Sure, maybe the ratio of stinkers slightly increases over the years, but I still enjoy the majority of it. Lotusflow3r, 20Ten, MPLS, PE, 3121, Musicology... Probably don't compare with 1980-88 Prince, but they're still enjoyable.

What exactly are you sick of Haterina?

Anyway, as far as Prince's music, and which era admirers of his music prefer, depends on what type of music appeals to the individual's taste(s).

I have my favorite tracks, which appeal to my music tastes, so it would be hard for me to say which era was/is better, especially since time and people change-that can't be denied.

I appreciate/embrace a substantial amount of his music from the Prince of "Then and Now". This is not saying I love(d) every, single song he wrote/sang, as that would be unrealistic. and no two fans will ever hear/feel the same vibe from a song by any musician/artist. It pretty much depends on how the song touches an individual/the kind of vibe you get from it.

For example, I may have a song from "20Ten" on replay several times one day, and listen to a track(s) from the "For You" or "Controversy/Purple Rain" eras another day or tracks from the 3121 album. All depends on the kind of vibe I'm feeling.

The poster with Prince of "Then and Now", standing in front of his image from the Controversy era, speaks volumes of his 30-years' plus, history of music to present day, including the various styles/changes that took place and defined where he stood with his music, within each era.

However, I can respect/embrace all forms/styles/eras of his music, including any tracks, that are not included on my list of favorites, based on what I like, not based on another fan's opinion of what I should/should not like. To each their own regarding which era a fan likes, even if I don't agree with them on occasion about it.

Prince is a grown ass man that needs to finally understand that his shit...DOES in fact STANK!

He's been just coasting...on passes long enough. I'm fresh out. I don't have anymore. If he were related to me...in any kind of way...

I just miss when he used to do his old songs from NPG and Tora Tora Tora and I miss the SYMBOL songs also and the Ride at EVERY AFTERSHOW and how about when he did that song ROCK N ROLL IS ALIVE AND LIVES IN MINNEAPOLIS. I miss when he did like a Trazillion shows in 1998 and into 1999. I actually miss Kat DYSON and RHONDA also. I miss when there was Arsenio Hall shows and Chris Rock shows cause PRINCE was so RAW and SO EXCITING and felt really COMFORTABLE being HIMSELF with them.

I don't prefer one to the other. Even during his so-called "golden years" when most fans thought he could do no wrong, there were albums I didn't care for.

By the same token I like some of his recent work just as much as the albums I loved when I first got into him.

He's still badass in my book.

I used to really like Prince. Nowadays I could care less about him. I come to this site for the associate artists(The Time and Jesse Johnson). If they would ever have their OWN site(and not some bullshit site like they do) I would never come here. I sometimes check out this forum just to keep up but Prince sucks now and has to me since 2004. I watched that france tv thing and just shook my head. I have never seen him being that aweful before. I guess I have really moved on from him. I really enjoy other artists much much better than him now. Its too bad cause he used to be so good. His views on music somehow got twisted and money took over his life. Money is number one to him and It really shows

You miss Kat Dyson?? Her ass was with Prince for about a hot second and then got bounced for Mike Scott. She wasn't even in the band long enough to be missed, to be honest.
