For Prince to be the top solo act from a publication whose listeners probably don't listen to Prince is pretty damn good. A lot of the bands on the list like Rush and GnR are veteran and very polished acts. They've had years to cultivate a very good live shows. Some of the newer bands are raw and full of energy which makes their shows really good too. I think the list is a pretty fair list, and remember these are opinion polls and most will vote for their favorite band. Not everyone is a fan of Prince, nor have they seen him live before.

I wouldn't take all this too seriously.

There are probably a lot of people who think Prince shouldn't even be in the top 10.

Eye dont take anything on the org seriously anymore!.

This List does not suck, ok a bit, but just because you people have never heard of Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree doesn't give you the right to just dispell them if you know nothing about them... at least be contructive!

I don't think Dream theater are the be all and end all of Prog Metal as is suggested by their fans and for me alot of their music is derivertive of Metallica/ Megadeth/Pantera et al but they are fantastic to go see live and real musicains, just because they're not your musicians doesn't mean that other Prince fans don't appreciate who they are. I do like some of their music.

As for Porcupine Tree, well Jam and Lewis call Prince Mr Music, then Steven Wilson (PT main man) Is also in that catagory, I'm not saying he has sold as many records or is as talented but he, like Prince, Lives music 24/7. Any rock fans out there would be well advised to check out any of Steven Wilson's work including Porcupine Tree, however, my warning is is that they are a bit meloncoly!!

Most of the acts on here are rock bands becuse it was voted for by people who read guitar/Rock/ and Prog Rock magazines and yes any list of live acts should contain Steve Wonder and Mavis Staples but you have to consider the bias in the people that voted, rock fans like rock music! Y'know, I don't think Elton John was on that list was he? I'm no fan of his but you would consider him to be one of the top live acts in the world today.

Thing is Prince is digged by people who follow every genre and we all know that he IS number 1 live act in the world!!!

We know all this.

Myloveis' point was about the "colourblindedness" that still exists today.

Which is an excellent point.

My rant was aimed at people dismising this, yes bais, list because they have not heard a some of the, and I would say better, groups in this list. The "this list sucks" statement just compelled me to comment.

The 'colour blindness' remark was not what I was arguing about it's more about a limited sample popultion and demographic that has created this list. However, I don't think 'colour blindness' should have anything to do with it because colour should not not matter, we should all stop seeing colour. A person is a person and music is music no matter who has created it.
