Dirty Mind has VASTLY superior songs than Controversy, too. Let's not forget that fact.

At first, I didn't like DIRTY MIND, but it eventually grew on me once I got older and listened to what he was saying. I must say, that's one freaky song..but it sounds so soft & sweet.

I knew I was gonna love Dirty Mind on the SONG alone then hearing "Partyup" on the radio so many times followed by "Sister" a few years back, then hearing "Uptown", "When You Were Mine" and "Head", I knew I was gonna love it and I do.

eh, I'm not a huge fan of the album. Honestly, I'm in the small minority that prefers Controversy. I love the guitars on this album, but that's about it. It's a good album, but it's not in my top 10 Prince albums. I don't understand what's so great about it. (Other than that he says 'naughty' words, which might be something great if I was still 12)
btw, I've never heard a critic say Controversy was better. [Edited 6/16/11 2:37am]

"Head"? "Sister"? Sure, the album is funky, but the lyrics are awful.. at least on Controversy he could talk about more than F'ing.

U took ur time, but welcome to the club, that album could never not have me like it. Its that great, hopefully this new vinyl pressing of it (And I will get it eventually) gives you the songs in all their rawness and righteousness. Amen Brother! Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Genius! MyeternalgrattitudetoPhil&Val.Herman said "We want sweaty truckers at the truck stop! We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits"

People are just sooooo dramatic while talking about "Sister"
No big deal. It's a joke song. And the lyrics are not that nasty: I've always thought that's it's about a 13 years old guy who couldn't stop watching her sister's 19 years old hot body and she decided to show him some clit/tit, because she's so generous/upbeat. Nothing to write home about. IT happens in EVERY american house, nearly every day...

He actually said 16. And the lady was 32.

Love the way his guitar shreds (and it echoes) at the end of it too.

True. I'm not offended by the song at all, and I don't know why anyone would be. I just don't think it's a great song..
