That weird story... U guys remember this weird 90's story about a dude who had uncirculating songs who sent them to a friend of his who was dying in a hospital and later claimed that some people from a fan magazine INTERCEPTED the songs and managed to have them surfacing on bootlegs a few months after that and therefore the dude swore that he wouldn't have anything to do with the Prince's fan community?
WTF is that?
How on EARTH can "people from a fan magazine" INTERCEPT tapes? Like I send my tapes to a friend and some greedy Prince fans are spying on all the envellopes sent by every Prince fan in the world to other Prince fans and manage to intercept the mail? C'mon, WTF is that? Either the dying guy gave it to them before he died or either they stole it from his hospital room before or after he died (how sinister and unbelievable!) or what?
And admitting that this happened, why should the WHOLE fan community be blamed for a few sucker's behaviour anyway?
And what's that "people from a fan magazine" accusation? We all know that back then, out of the dozen Prince fanzines around, saying this could only imply "Uptown Magazine". On the other hand I can hardly imagine these people wasting their time doing crap like this, they sound a bit more like being pros and decent people. So what the fuck is that? Is this Uptown or is this a way to fuck up with Uptown by accusing "some fanzine".
I mean I undertand that this story might be true and that this guy might have been really offended but the way he told it online sounds just... weird...
That, and is he the same guy who did a promise to a dying friend not to release his outtakes and who's still holding the song as hostages after 15 years?
Thanks for clearing this weird story
Peace.
