Hey darlingomo
Thanks for the love. Myself and my friend Sam produced this documentary for XFM as part of a series we're doing called "25", all about classic albums from 1986. Obviously, this one in particular was very much a labor of love for me - I conducted most of the interviews personally including Dr Fink and Brent Fischer, and you'll hear me speaking in the doc as well at various points.
So I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's certainly been the most popular documentary in the series so far - no small feat when we've also covered Metallica, Depeche Mode and REM amongst others.
Here's the main discussion thread about it: http://prince.org/msg/7/357444?&pg=1

No, to Darlingomo -who started this thread- it is worth a listen. Now go take your meds and Sad how every thread has to have that one person who hates it, but can't just keep it to themselves. God forbid we do that, right?! They have to pop their narrow minded little head up and open their mouthes, so to speak, and be heard. The internet sucks for this very reason. Everyone's got an opinion, and oh boy, they've got to let us all know what they hate. Thank you so much
purpleaxxe, the radio station was pretty adamant about it being available for online streaming only. i'm sure there are ways to rip it... not that i'm suggesting you do that or anything

My apologies. Didn't notice the bold print. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

I have apologized, but let it be known, all the fucking haters out there can suck my big hairy cock. I couldn't be more sick of the whiney little couch potatoes glued to their computers, with no lives outside of Prince - or for that matter - reality...who come here A PRINCE FANSITE (huh ?) and complain and complain about how "Prince sucks", "Prince is an a$$hole", translation: my mommy and daddy didn't love me, they don't wanna wipe my ass anymore, etc etc. It got old five years ago, I'm beyond sick of it here, on a site I used to consider one of the best. So now take my new advice. "Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion" -- Martha Graham

You've had your vent. Good for you. Now watch, magically, as the site transforms to a positive, considerate, thoughtful, compassionate, appreciative site with fair critiques and total absence of "haters".
I think the org is a really good reflection of Prince. Completely insane. And endlessly entertaining and sporadically brilliant.
Speaking of brilliant and I have said it on another thread but the Parade documentary is, indeed, ace.

I agree with this. When it goes beyond constructive criticism to just plain nasty, hateful comments that's when it crosses the line. People should always be warned in those situations and banned if they continue to do it and that isn't always happening. I've seen first-hand elsewhere on the net, lots of people saying they stopped coming here because of it. |

And you're painting me with that brush, are you? Do me a favour, find me a single post where I've said anything resembling "Prince sucks" or "Prince is an asshole". Go for it.

Good job Militant, I've followed you on Tumblr also & enjoyed others in the series. Sorry I missed your original post, I only came across it on mixcloud.
I don't come here much anymore as threads end up turning into a crazy barrage of miscommunication & anger.
Again, congrats on the show.

TwiliteKid, I wasn't referring to you, and I apologize again if you took it that way. I was only referring to the haters/whiners on this site, and your post I mis-read sparked my vent.
And mynameisnotsusan, you're right it probably won't make a lick of difference. But maybe it will. Back in 2001 after TRC came out, I thought it was cool to consistently berate Prince for what I thought were his small ideas ("Would you rather be dead or be sold?"), rather than see it from his perspective. Then I saw so many early Orgers jump on the same bandwagon, mostly to hear themselves complain. And I just realized how petty and small minded I was being. It's easy to complain about what's wrong with someone, no matter who they are. It's far harder to see ourselves in their shoes.
