The song in itself might fit her image, but she failed by not making it her own with new arrangement, interpretation, relating to the song, etc. I don't think she is mature enough as an artist to take on a song like this.

More power to her. Obviously she can't pull it off like Prince (and neither could Justin Bieber) but it does show his influence that artists like that would dare attempt a cover. Also shows you how poor they are by comparison. But it's all out of love for The Kid as DirtyChris would say.

The Rebecca Romijn version is still the best cover.

It was coo...least they left in some Linn Drum effects musically...the vocals..meh but Im glad somebody is doig it live..Prince wont

Although I havent heard the Rebecca Romijn version, it seems kinda strange for a woman to be singing this song. I wonder if she had gotten Prince's ok to sing it just out of courtesy even though she didn't need permission. Who knows- maybe she did. I kinda doubt he'd like anyone else to sing it, since he himself is not singing it anymore. I think that this was the issue with him (interview on the George Lopez Show) saying that he disliked the fact that other artists could cover his songs without his permission. Though it wasn't a recording, to my knowledge it was just done in concert.
