How Big of an A**hole is Prince?!? I absolutely love the guys music & work ethic [just like the rest of you], but it appears to me that a lot of the people that he's worked with in the past & [former] friends really don't seem to like him that much anymore. I even see certain people on here complain about him constantly [I've seen those "Everything was great til '88 lines" too
I'm starting to think that music & fans are the only stable thing Prince has in his life...

]. Shiela E. isn't playing with him anymore, He cuts people out that some of us wish he wouldn't [Wendy & Lisa & the rest of The Revolution]. So, what could it be? We all could say jealousy, but I'm not buying that EVERYONE he used to work with or be cool with or even date is jealous of him. It has to be somethings we don't even know about in Prince's character. Why so many crappy business deals? Why so many abandoned projects? Could we fans be feeding too much into his ego? Why his money troubles & suits?!? Why doesn't he have his own family by now? What's with his control issues? What's with his constant lying?????
No offense but just because "we" didnt want him to cut some members of his band doesnt mean that he shouldnt. Maybe they didnt suit his style of music anymore, he wanted better band members etc.
Yes Prince has an oversized ego, but who cares? All i want are new albums, remasters of old ones etc. | |

Cutting some one from a band does not make them an enemy for decades all of the time [I have a band, & I've done this, & I'm still cool with who I had to cut. It wasn't personal all of the time].
But answer this, what band has he had since that we really liked more or even equally than The Revolution?

Unless you know him personally you have no right to call him an asshole. And even then, if you do know him personally and think he's an asshole you probably are holding a grudge.
Just chill the f out. Who cares about a few badly handled business deals? They pale in comparison to the successful ones, it's just you don't hear about when everything is going great, do you? Who cares about abandoned projects? Again, the man has released an album almost EVERY year since 1978, three motion pictures, video collections and live DVD's and you want to talk about abandoned projects? Who cares about lawsuits? Look up how many lawsuits MJ had to deal with on a yearly basis. Maybe he doesn't want to have a family - not everybody does, and who could blame him after some of the things he's been through? What lying - what can you conclusively state he lied about?

Apparently all is not well. If it was, I wouldn't have started this thread because none of this stuff would be known about him. Look, I love Prince's music just like us all, but there is something kinda strange in Prince's character. Maybe he has a shield up & doesn't trust many people because he was truly hurt at some point about something we may or may not know, So he's quick to get them out of his life to the nth degree. And let's be honest, I don't think anyone is really mad that Prince has so many albums at all, but he could have held off on some of those & delivered better material with more care.....

Prince is a genius, he can. Prince mostly, produces, arranges, composes, writes all his material, so if he is ahead before people he works with, it may seem this way. Geniuses & inovators all have a selfish type of quality.

I say if you want to be a musician its best to sacrifice the marriage/family thing. Face it: musicians want to ether be working on their craft or performing -- and performing means touring, i.e.you're gone and doing the best to cut costs as much as possible. It's a sad thing, but that's life: you can't have everything. | |
