do you think prince is a strict jehova's witness? im new to this cite, so this topic may have already been discussed (sorry in advanced)
but do you think prince follows every single guideline of his faith or do you think he bends the rules a little?
or do you think he still has the same lifestyle as before and uses his faith as a consciousness?
any other ideas?
when i saw him in san jose, he seemed reluctant that he couldn't really do his dirty songs
*for instance...he started the song for darling nikki and nasty girl and then he stopped them and said "im in rehab" making a cute pouty sad face.
he still exudes a lot of sexuality inadvertantly (which i like )

I don't think he's as strict as he could be but I think he tries very hard to do what's right. but from what I understand, just the fact that he's in the "worldy" world of entertainment, he is violating JW code.

Be nice if he kicked away from JW. Mani became a JW for him. Bria became a JW for him. Question: Is Mani still a JW? Bet Bria is. I like m.any things about them, but they are too rigid. Does it affect his music? Yes if he is a strict JW. Doesn't seem like he is. We see more casualness in his performance than we saw from 2001-2010. I like the less formal Prince much better. He don't strike me as a strict JW. It's like when Michael was a JW. Probably loyal to it but not totally 100% into it as he tells it. The "old" Prince still shows up every now and then.

Yeah I try to be respectful and know that prince has moved on with his life, but I can tell deep down inside he's a freak and has to hold it in. Just the things he says and does on stage is suggestive enough. I remember in san jose he got real low on floor (like he was about to do the worm) and I think we all know what that is supposed to look like. But like someone said. I think he makes himself seem like more of a jehovas witness then he really is

I was at the House of Blues second show, and he did the Gingerbread Man song. Yep, singing about puddles on the floor, jumping on his hips and whatnot. Anyway, I have to say that I enjoyed it.

It seems like the same story as Bob Dylan's conversion to born-again Christianity. Very intense in the beginning, then it petered out over time. I don't know what he does in his personal life; maybe he still holds regular prayer and Bible study meetings and knocks on doors trying to convert people. But listening to "Dance 4 Me," it sounds like the same horny dude we've always known. He doesn't explicitly refer to sex, but the sentiment is exactly the same as in "Dirty Mind." If he were a strict JW I don't think he'd have released MPLSound when he could be preaching to us about the new translation. Publicly disavowing the religion might be personally humiliating and hurt some people that he cares about. He apparently knows the boundaries of what he can get away with, and maybe they cut him some slack since he's so famous. You just have to look at Valentina and know that he isn't a strict JW

I think Prince thinks he is a "proper" Jehovah's Witness...
But as to whether he is, well, then that depends on how you yourself define what a "Jehovah's Witness" is. There are literally thousands of different Christian denominations, each with their own slightly different take on the Bible. And within them, you'll still find people who disagree on certain verses and points of view... And this would be no different for the Jehovah's Witnesses. Its like cleaner lyrics but the same essence. Like a G rated version of prince is still sexual lol. But I noticed the same thing. He started off real strong with the JW thing and now I feel like he can't hold it any longer

Even if Prince left the JW faith, which I don't think he will, I don't think he would go back to singing four-letter-words on stage. It's cool and sexy for a wild young man to do that; less so for an aging rock legend. On the other hand, I could see him playing songs like Erotic City and just letting the audience sing the dirty parts. I'm actually glad that he released MPLSound and 20Ten, because now I have Prince music I can play for my son when he's little without worrying about him teaching the F-word to everyone in his preschool. The lyrics are very sexual but it's easier to fly over the head of a kid who's too young for "Erotic City." Prince is not a real JW, and isn't trying to be.

Right. I wouldn't even mind if he changed the lyrics when he played those songs live, as long as he doesn't change them on record. Just change "fuck" to "hug" in most of them and the problem is solved. Nope, I think Prince is stuck in his own world, and that being a JW some how fits into it. I've known some strict JW's and they werent at all like P, although religion does ordain some what of how a person maintains there life, and im sure he takes his religion into consideration, i mean the mans changed since converting, But Prince will do, what Prince likes even if it seems unfit, unsual or unfair to the rest of the world.
Same life style? No Same man? Yes Same message? Yes Same mindset? No

Is it even possible to not be a strict witness? Don't they shun anybody who doesn't toe the line?

You know, I really don't care how Prince chooses to express his spiritual beliefs. I just know the man is a musical genius and a great guitarist. I was feeling a bit ill this evening. So I thought hmmmmmmm.......what would make me feel better. Then I thought, "music." So I went onto youtube and listened to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame - George Harrison Tribute - While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Prince's solo was so wonderful and spiritually deep. Made me feel like I got a pure dose of "feel better now medicinal soundication." Thanks Prince. What ever your personal spiritual belief is makes no never mind to me. "YOU the MAN." I'm so very sure your God watches over you very well. “Transracial is a term that has long since been defined as the adoption of a child that is of a different race than the adoptive parents,” : https://thinkprogress.org...fb6e18544a

People are wayyy too into what Prince believes considering that none of us know him and it doesn't affect us one way or the other. "I don't think you'd do well in captivity." - random person's comment to me the other day

His beliefs do affect us as he allows them to limit his own creativity. And he made it public when he started opening his yap about it. "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

It wouldn't be a problem if he was trying to get people to believe the stuff he's preaching about. To be honest, I doubt most of us are sunk into that. It's just we choose not to follow it once he does say anything related to it. To be honest, it's kinda like the Lovesexy period where he had a "spiritual epiphany". I'm seeing that same thing happen now.
