Should I bring my 7 year old daughter to see Prince?

She's a big fan, her favourite song is Controversy and knows all the hits apart from the slightly dodgy ones like Gett off and Sexy MF.

She went through a Beyonce phase but I couldn't possibly bring her to Beyonce with all that gyrating and booty shaking.

I said I'd bring her when shes about 8 but he's coming to Dublin on 30th July. My girl is only gonna be 7 on the 16th July, is she too young still?

hes not nearly as dirty as he used to be. a 7 year old probably wouldnt get the inuendos in some of the songs he still sings anyway =p i dont think it would be that bad. unless hes really changed his act in the last 5 months. which i doubt.

She'll be fine. just make sure you let her listen to Sly Stones greatest hits first, so she knows some of the songs. smile

I would suggest some earplugs, but might take my 7 year old doughter to a concert as well if place, time and price are OK.

It willl be safe in terms of offensiveness, as his concerts are pretty clean now.

However, I think it may be a bit noisy for a little girl so take earplugs in case. Give her the choice!

Also stay close by her as she may find the crowds a bit scary.

Babies is another matter - these should not be taken to concerts as it is far too loud for their sensitive ears and could damage them.

It's a damn shame that Prince has gotten to the point that he's appropriate for a child. lol

I hear ya. Hell, when I go to a concert, no matter what concert it is, we all sneak liquor in and get buzzin' and loud and talk shit. Even if Prince has become a goodie two shoes, his fans are still the same ole heatherns and his concert is definately not the place for a child simply because of the type of audience.

Do you think her interest will be kept up? I am thinking that most 7 year olds would get board by the end of the show.

This is what I was I was thinking of (didn't even think of it being too loud, I saw her checking out the AC/DC section last time we were at the wrecka stow).

In my defence Prince did say to bring the kids so I'm not that worried about the content and aren't adults prohibited from cursing and drinking at shows now.

Also it is outdoors and (heres the usual parent speel) shes a really good kid.

Best argument against from you two guys though.

We'll prolly end up sitting beside you and your derelict buddies on one side and Wayne Rooney and his family on the other. I'll have to practice my dirty looks, I'll make up a montage of dirty looks from the Under the Cherry Moon movie.

That's always been the rules but as soon as the lights go down right before the show starts, that's the end of those rules. When you see those lighters light up, not all of them are being used to wave in the air during "Purple Rain". lol

Yeah, right...because they hire "profanity police." lol

I have never been to a Prince show where there wasn't any alcohol. Every venue I've seen him in has sold liquor in one form or another. And if there isn't any sold, you know folks will BYOB.

Cute...but no.

abigail knows. Folks here are always packin'. (I own two flasks, myself.) And if they run out...they dash the two blocks to the nearest likka stow.

I would never bring my kid to a concert under the age of 16 with those drunken bitches and crazy people there. Not to mention the loudness, etc. What enjoyment would a 7 year old get out of a concert? Meh.

I don't smoke no weed but I did a little when I was younger but didn't care for it. At my first concert, The Barkays, back in 1985, people were smoking weed and passing the joint down the aisle for everyone to take a hit, including myself. I was drinking a Coke and the people next to me gave me some Jack Daniel's to pour in my Coke. I was having a damn good time at that concert. lol

I learned from that concert what to do though. Sneak a bottle of liquor in, buy a Coke from the concession stand, pour the liquor in with the Coke, put the lid and the straw back on it and you can walk around all out in the open in front of security guards and all drinking and nobody will know it. lol

A little too young, and it's a little too loud at the age of 7.

Wait a few more years.

At one of the last Madison Square Garden shows I went to

there were a couple of kids in front of me and they looked

pretty bored. They were sitting with their arms and heads on

the balcony railing.
