Purple Reign (2003 radio doc) on BBC2 I was listening to this today and despite being overall interesting, there are some serious errors that caught my ear and mande me cringe. (I know, I am anal that way. I usually know Prince trivia/info off the top of my head, so it surprises me that the people doing the program didn't research the data, or at least check facts for accuracy).
On the positive side: Great commentary from Alan Leeds (as usual) and Susan Rogers and others. Great attention to and appreciation of Prince's artistic vision, his work ethic and unique place in the history of pop music.
But here are some errors that I had to point out...
1 - Minneapolis is NOT "a small town in the midwestern US", as Mica Paris refers to it. It is the largest city in Minnesota with a population of 380,000. This was a particularly embarrassing mistake - I thought only Americans were geographically dumb
2 - "Purple Rain" the single, did NOT reach #1 on the US charts and stay there for 26 weeks. The PR album did that. The song peaked at #2, btw.
3 - The Most Beautiful Girl in the World was NOT credited to the NPG, as Mica says, but rather to
4 - Reportedly, Prince and Mayte did not have a baby girl that died, but rather a boy.

on the Minneapolis bit that's like when band's go to certain towns and have no idea where they are lol.
And how could the mistake the Purple Rain single for going number 1 for 26 week's?? that would have made it the longest running number 1 in history Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener
