The main problem with this song, as well as with The Same December and Zanallee, is the horns overdubs. It didn't make sense to add horns on this rock-oriented material, it made it sound overproduced and corny when without it, these songs actually shared the real agressive "rock" energy of the rest of the album, an energy that I find very enjoyable. Because of their horns overdubs, these 3 songs alone managed to destroy the dynamic of the whole album, which is a pity because apart from that, it was a very daring album. It feels like filler on an album of filler.

you dont think 'jack u off' is meant as a bit of humour ?....i jack u o-o-o-off....jack u off...of course its a joke...even the music sounds funny....even 'everybody loves me ' from the last album is another one...lighthearted fun track..not to be taken seriously... .

I think Jack U Off is done in a lighthearted way but I wouldn't say it was a joke song...this is Prince's lust talking! (I always thought this was a strange song to address to a woman, it sounds something you would say to a man, if you bi or gay that is).
The Wedding Feast is deliberately humourous and only meant as a fun interlude, it was never intended to be a serious song I'm sure so not sure why such hate, just appreciate the humour.
I don't think Right The Wrong is intended as a joke either, it has a strong moral message and is using the medium you don't associate with redemption and forgiveness (heavy rock) to deliver it. I personally like it a lot.

I disagree. I think the ONLY thing I like about "Right the Wrong" are the horns!

Yeah, me too. I tried to like this song, but I just can't. It's not for me.
On the other hand, I love the song "Animal Kingdom", which I know a lot of orgers hate.
To each their own. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

It's funny you should say that, because I didn't see this post until after I posted my thoughts about the song "Animal Kingdom". RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

That little instrumental part right before Prince sings, "Who told us we should eat the swine" has always reminded me of Stevie Wonder. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

In the song, "Right the Wrong", instead of singing, "Right the wrong, hear the song", I sing it, "Right the wrong, stupid song!" RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
