Dude

I have been into Death Metal as long as into Prince. From Kreator, Death, Slayer, Morbid Angel ect. to Prince wink

And please, I know for a fact that many death metal groups are NOT anti black, anti gay and anti Jewish confused I used to play guitar in a death metal band and know a lot of metal-people and they are just as normal & crazy as Prince-fans lol They just like extreme music. cool

I hope not, as a lot of death metal and hardcore metal is racist and violent in its lyrics, its known for a fact many death metal groups are anti black, anti gay and anti Jewish, also their music is crap. I fail to see the merit in some guy shrieking or grunting, with frantic drumming and some guys with hair over their whole faces boning away at a guitar, the Lord will catch up with them. Also the gory covers on the albums of party decomposed corpses and skulls and blood are pretty unpleasant.

There are some bands in the black metal genre that have a racist agenda (although, their questionable views are hardly limited to racism alone). As far as I know, there aren't any death metal bands worth noting that would have racist lyrics.

So, don't call it a "fact".

Does the group SUFFICATION count as death metal?...If so, I dig them. Plus they have a couple of brothers in the band too. God Forbid is a great band also.

And Prince changed his name to a symbol, refuses to play the hits and is gay. Right?

Don't talk clichés if you don't know the subject.

I don't like death metal, but apart from my two musical hero's Prince and Springsteen, I listen mostly to heavy metal and hard rock. Venom & Bathory are as raw as I can stand it.

NONSENSE

Not too hard. But a little harder would be nice. "Lay it down" is funky and hard. Just like I like it. But I also like the guitar rawness on "Temptation", and "Bambi".

I hate death metal. Most Metal I really dislike but I do like alot of Hard Rock(if you consider Creed, Aerosmith, Nickelback, ACDC etc hard rock). Personally I thik they are just rock but most stores have them as Hard Rock.

Metal sucks to me

I'd dig it if Prince would record some stuff in an older metal style, like Iron Maiden or Shout At the Devil era Motley Crue.

A connection between Prince and death metal?

The closest I can come up with is the Dog Almighty track on the Shockadelica tribute.

Umm did you not forget the satanic lyrics in Judas Priest, Deicide, and Norwegian death metal group Mayhem, who were described as anti gay and nazi who murdered someone back in the 90s. I don't care what anyone says, this music is garbage and deserves to be banned. I have listened to some death metal in the past (Used to live with a guy in my student days about 10 years and all the music sounded the same, its shit.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Judas Priest - Rob Halford (singer) is openly gay. Lyrics were never really satanic - They wear crosses - the right way up!

Correct on Mayhem though as they are mental and Deicide are a joke amoungst metallers.

Calling to ban forms of music due to not liking it is not really the answer - Do you suggest banning literature/art too if it contains things you don't like ?

Say Brothers...Can I get some credit...NO?!?!?

Foo Fighters is as close as "Death Metal" as I'll get.

I love the Fooies. Best band for the past 10 years.

And the fact the Dave loves Prince is absolutely AWESOME!

Great combo.

i like some of the 70's hard rock bands who did some heavy metal too, but i dont think i could ever get into death metal. I respect those musicians for their talent and hard work, but nah its not for me.

Mayhem is a black metal band and not a death metal band. The person playing the bass guitar on the band's first record, Varg Vikernes, killed another member of the band in a fight. He is pretty much anti-everything that goes against the traditional lifestyle in Norway (including Christianity). Don't get me wrong, he's as crazy as it gets and deserves no praise for his views. He just happens to be something of musical visionary on his own as well.

If you don't care what anyone says then don't post your comments on the subject matter.

Agreed. This thread doesn't belong on this subforum. It should be on the music: non-prince forum.

death metal would be ok if it weren't for the cookie monster vocals I just can't take that seriously. But I do love progressive metal aside from prince my next musical love is Tool

Wow, I thought I was the only one that liked TOOL and Prince.lol I actually saw them both on the same night in Las Vegas. I caught TOOL at the Palms and then saw Prince at 3121, it was one of the best nights of my life. As for death metal, I never could get into it. I agree with you about the vocals. I had a friend that used to listen to it and sometimes the music sounded cool but then the vocals would start.

what a nite damn I'm jealous as hell talk about a one two knock out combo cool
