Question about the Batman Soundtrack Tin

So I was considering buying the Batman soundtrack tin version. (The rare version of it that comes in the collectors tin) But I was just curious, does it come with any bonus tracks? Or anything else worth getting it for beyond the tin itself? Let me know guys. smile Thanks!

No, it doesn't have any extra tracks. It's also not very rare as they ended up in cut-out bins quite frequently. The cut-outs will have a dented can, not a hole. The sound on the Batman tin pressing(s) is documented to be sub-par compared to the jewel-case disc as well.

The booklet is very nice, and the disc art is cool.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I almost bought one once but was put off when I noticed that bloody drill dent on the front!

Whoever thought of defacing a collectors item needs shooting.

I'm not sure I understand the dent Vs hole comment

But mine is indeed slightly dented...but then I bought it for £1 still sealed so I can't complain too much

I have the jewel case and the actual CD has the batman logo filling the entire disk surface.

Was this the norm?

That's probably the German limited edition. Most jewel case CDs had a smaller Bat logo.

Some cut-out CDs have a saw slice in the case, some have a small puncture and others just have a hole punched in the barcode. These "cut-out" Bat Tins were punched with something in order to dent the metal instead of the usual slice or hole that a jewel case would receive.

That is interesting, I never heard that before.

I still see these on ebay for outrageous prices, then a week later the seller has dropped it to £2 or something. lol

Apparently "Limited Edition" meant they were limited to how many they could sell. evillol

Maybe Prince has a stack of them. He throws away the cd and book and uses the tins for his make up. Attach a little brush to the lid and hey presto.

Oh I see, I never knew that. Mine does indeed have a tiny dent in the edge of the tin but it's almost unnoticeable. Got it fir £1 sealed at a record fair and I've noticed no difference between any of my original silver, yellow symbol or grey symbol versions

I have 3 versions - a normal silver cd with little bat logo and writing, a full disc batlogo in yellow and black and the tin version in grey and black...the only one that was billed as ltd is the tin.

Better get that letter of resignation back smile

I bought this in 1989 instead of the jewel case version (had to choose back then), but was very disappointed the way this disk sits in the can with nothing to hold it in place. I later had to get the standard jewel case version. The booklets are also different and I like the booklet of the standard version better.

I didn't know that about the sound. Have to compare now...

I'd bet my right nut that the disc with the large yellow logo disc is more rare than the black-on-black tuna can version, if only for the reason that people held onto the "collectible" tin and it could be had at a deep discount after the cut-out process. wink

I don't have that German* pressing (the tray art says "France"), so I was going off information from this great site (note the "Limited" sticker): http://aprilsnow035.ueuo....n/1118.htm

But, yeah... no one's gonna get rich off of any commercial Batman CD.

*I don't know why aprilsnow lists it as German but the back art says France. hmmm

Yep. I put my tin CD in a jewel case right away after seeing how the can might mess it up or get damaged. Same with my Crystal Ball discs. Kinda anal. lol

One little suprise that I didn't notice for a few YEARS was the black BATMAN writing on the back of the jewel case version...it wasn't until the box needed replacing that I took the back inlay out and could see it

I could be wrong, but, I think maybe that means pressed in Germany for distribution in France...

Perhaps someone in Europe should answer, I'm not sure on this.
