This fitted perfectly on an 80 min / 700mb CDR - no editing was required whatsoever.

You can use Winamp to directly burn the FLAC files so you have no loss of quality by having to convert to MP3 first.

^ All this.

Jeez, I never read so much discussion on burning a CD of a particular bootleg here before lol . Anyhoo, I used NERO with overburn with no problems.

Let me clear this time discrepancy up. There is absolutely no band interaction or music missing from anyone's copy of the released ANONY/FBG/4DF "From The Soundboard". What did happen in order for the complete show to fit on a regular 80-minute CD-R was nothing more than very carefully editing out the quiet ambient audience lulls between songs.

Just to reiterate.

And now... :eyeroll: :

EYE RECORDS IS PROUD TO PRESENT

NOW ON SILVER FACTORY PRESSED
PRINCE & THE REVOLUTION
FIRST AVENUE 1984

"MORE TIME 87 MN"
"BETTER SOUND"
"NEW MASTERING FROM THE ORIGINAL TAPE SOURCE"

AVAILABLE MONDAY ON THE WEBSITE
+
COMPLETE PICTURES & FLYER ON THE NEWS LETTER MONDAY
BEST PRICE

1 CD 90MN SOUNDBOARD
BEAUTIFUL DIGIPACK TRI-FOLD GLOSS
BOOKLET 12 PAGES

So, I know some will be purchasing the above pressed CD, and that's up to the individual. But as I stated previously, there will be literally nothing added to this for-profit bootleg in terms of music or even someone in the band farting. Just audience murmurs.

And, no - I don't have the "EYE" Records website.

Trust me, as soon as the "EYE" CD lands in someone's mailbox, it will be shared for free far and wide (but, don't ask here for EYE release either, as per org house rules).

A boycott of for-profit, pressed boots would be nice, especially knowing how this particular one has been obtained, but...

At least know that it will be available FREE immediately upon release and contain reproductions of the new art - an effort to dent the pocketbooks at EYE, while giving completists a chance to compare. Stay tuned to the usual sources.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

^^ Well, that did not take those wankers long did it?

Sad thing is, some people will actually pay for this just to have the artwork printed and placed in a jewel case.

Eye keeps using these crappy 90 minutes discs. My cd players have problems with those discs.

If they want to release this concert, why not on a normal 80 minutes disc?

Seems to me it shouldn't be too hard to track down the douchebag responsible. Evidently very few in the loop had a copy of the set with the edited out silent bits, obviously one of those few slipped it to EYE, or IS EYE...

Because they think they have something exclusive now, by releasing this with 8min of extra audience noise, which was editted out on the free release for good reason.

What a bunch of money-hungry losers! Everybody wasting money on this, is deluded. It's available for free, the way it was intended, without a sec. of music missing.

This is one of the reasons I rated this track an 11 out of 10. I mean, seriously, this jam is so sensual then it hits with an ending line that leaves it totally open to interpretation.

Has he been stood up (implied by the way it's sung)

Or is he waiting in anticipation...?

Great line that is sung so beautifully.

Excellent track and my new favorite. I don't get tired of of that track and the rest of the show.

P.S. - Considering he dedicated that track to Shiela, something tells me there was definitely a noon rendesvouz soon afterwards. Lucky dawg!

High kudos from myself and the rest of the crew: http://freedomtrainonline...pic=2079.0

There's a rehearsal version of the song that goes on for 18+ minutes where Prince ad-libs about how he is being stood up and how long he is waiting ("it's a quarter to three... it's 3:00... it's ten after three!!"). Also, I enjoyed your podcast about this show!

Re. Eye Records: I'd gladly pay (yes: give my money) to Eye Records, Sabotage Records, or anybody else to have brand new studio outtakes (full-length versions of "Cosmic Day" or "Strange Way", for example) or a new uncirculating soundboard, if it can convince some people to share what they have. But I don't understand people who will pay to have that First Avenue 1984 CD...

I just downloaded a version that is in mp3 format.

I have no complaints about it though, it saves me the trouble of converting the files.

17 days is dope as fuqq. I love the subtle guitar riffs throughout the track.

I can't believe that I have never listened to this show until now. Perfect timing on my behalf!

I might be high off purple music, but at first listen it sounded like they were riffing on the lead synth melody from Andre Cymone's "living in the new wave" near the end of Irresistible Bitch.

Right after Prince shouts "New Wave!"

It is sped up by comparison but the similarity is undeniable.

Starting at 5:12

Compare to this.

I'm thinking it was intentional.

I wonder if anyone else noticed this? lol I'm sure nobody cares but it was worth pointing out.

U know what, I didn't catch that one. That's a good one right there. I never notice that until now. I wouldn't be surprised if that was a dig of sort to Andre. That's deep, Prince was cleanning house then! LOL! He already called out Jesse during that guitar solo on "Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)". (In my Prince voice, from off one of those rehearsals) I'mma kick Morris ass! LOL!

Plus, I do believe this was the template for the "Box of Chocolates" version we all dearly love. Listen to the nuances...they are all there. This was recorded and worked on a'la Purple Rain with its First Avenue performance and recording.
