Winamp to Pod or Winamp to CD to Pod is proving a nightmare for me at the moment. Will investigate further this weekend unless you have a quick solution!!.

Not sure what you mean by it proving to be a nighmare for you, but you can burn FLAC direct to cd with Winamp.

For using your ipod, you can convert to MP3 using this http://www.dvdvideosoft.c...verter.htm or this http://download.cnet.com/...06134.html or any number of audio converters.

I used Audacity too. I like it. You may need to DL some plug-ins to get it to let you convert but I like how you can edit the songs. So if you want to make a ring tone just select the part you want and there you go.

Ahh, sorry, I did not know that. Pretty cool that they play FLAC.

if you set up the right plugins, nero will burn flac to cd without farting about. you can also burn ape, shn, ogg, mp3 etc if you set up right

and if you want to convert flac to mp3 or wav then traders little helper is all you need

mediamonky is also worth a mention as it can transfer files on the fly from flac to your ipod and convert to another format such as mp3. no need for itunes. if you jailbreak your ipod touch/iphone you can do the same

I would rather listen to 96-kbps MP3s than give up my From The Soundboard: 1984 Birthday Show.

This will be in HEAVY rotation; no doubt about that!!

The version of "When Doves Cry" on "From The Soundboard - 1984 Birthday Show" is maybe closer to the studio version, but it's completely boring (to me) at the same time. The only positive thing I could say was that it's an "interesting" version from an historical point of view. So I guess my point was: "more faithful to the studio version" does not imply "more enjoyable/interesting".

I just don't get it when people say that WDC was "too long" or "boring"! I absolutely LOVE what he's done to this song during those days on the rehearsals and this show. Less so on the actual tour, though. It's a classic tune with a classic leadline and is QUITE funky.

Isn't it interesting that at the same time video is pushed to higher quality HD, audio is being squashed by low quality mp3 and the loudness wars. At the same time video players and tv's get better while audio players come with crappy earbuds...

I understand what you're saying, but for those of us like me who listen to music at work or in the car via the iPod, mp3s are just a great convenience. I also like to listen to music while walking, and FLACs or even WAVs just take up way too much space. I convert to mp3s for the iPod, and listen to the higher-quality stuff at home. I think alot of others probably do the same. I'm willing to sacrifice the sound quality for convenience
