Did I Piss Prince Off? Have You Ever? It was Memorial weekend in 1999 and we were in Las Vegas to catch Prince in concert at The MGM Grand. He had mentioned that they had taken a break from making Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic and decided to jam in Vegas. The show was hot but it wasn't until the next day when we attended the 2nd show at Studio 54 that I kind of lost it. I had stood in line for about 6-7 hours just so I could get front row. Once we made it in, we took our place to the left of the stage only to wait an additional 3-4 hours before Prince came out. During that 3-4 hour wait, a gentlemen in a wheelchair took his place right behind me. His foot stand slowly pressed against the back of my lower leg harder and harder during those hours. What was I to do, tell him to move? There was too many people behind him, he had no where to go. By the time Prince came on stage, the crowd began to roar but I was so frustrated! Now don't get me wrong, I realize that one must put in the time to get those rightous positions before the stage. And I am a low key kind of dude who spends his time in the positive without complaint; but freak dude! Once I noticed Prince walk by me, I spoke out "about time!". I didn't notice Prince react but I am sure he could hear me. I did notice Morris Hayes' reaction. He had a look of "Oh no you didn't! No one talks to Prince that way!". Have you ever been in a good mood and someone says something off the wall and it totally ruins that good mood? I can't help but think that was the case in this situation. The reason I say that is because at one point during the show Prince was holding his mic/stand over the crowd allowing certain individuals to sing. He made his way right in front of me and I was thinking "this is my moment!". I wanted so much to do my "Don't make me yell" scream (Endorphin Machine), only to have him dog me out by giving the mic to someone behind the wheelchair dude! He got me! I could be wrong about this but it sure seemed as if I did piss him off. Prince, I'm sorry brother! It was the wheelchair dude that put me over the edge! Has anyone ever pissed Prince off?

O Dear! Here we go.... I never pissed Prince off, Never had a reason. But he sure has pissed me off a few times. I guess I do have a reason to piss him off!!
[Edited 5/4/11 18:51pm] Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

1. Was there no way the man in the wheelchair could have gotten to the front row? Seems like bad logistics in the venue. But still, What would it hurt you to let him sit in front of you if you can look right over him? I find that whole bit kinda disturbing. It's kind of ironic that you complain about a man in a wheelchair who probably can't use or feel his legs, hurting your legs. 2. Good for you. Prince being an hour late, I can dig. But 3 or 4 hours late, that is out of order. Or was it just the people who wanted to get a good soot, without there being a set time for when or if prince would perform, like at an aftershow? If so, then I'd have to say you probably pissed prince off and he did most likely 'get back at you' by handing the mike to the person who stood behind the wheelchair. Probably to also make a point about the fact that they stood BEHIND the wheelchair. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Good point. I thought about having the gentlemen in the wheelchair move in front of me but we were packed in like sardines and could barley move. And you are right; here is a gentlemen that could not use his legs and I am concerned about his stand "hurting" my leg. I am only human.

I know. And I'm not trying to sound like I am some superhuman goodmannered guy either. I know all about being frustrated at concerts. Some of these people really get to you. Especially people who keep pushing and shoving or try to move into your spot when you've been there for hours and hours and they just arrived 30 minutes ago and wheezled thier way from the back to where you are. And then they act so rude as if they have every right. I've been close to slapping even women at these occasions. klick and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I never pissed Prince off, but the NPG camp has actually sent a couple of emails to prince.org asking to have images of Prince that I posted removed.
They were simple photoshops like one ridiculous (I'm speaking of the original) of Prince during the lotusflow3r days of him holding his guitar with his head in the usual tilted position sucking in his lips like queedo from Star Wars and airbrushed so much he looked like a early 90s CGI image.
Anyways, I replaced his guitar with a dildo, and apparently that was deemed offensive enough to ask the org to remove it.
I cracked up when I found out just how humorless the npg camp (or even Prince) must have been.
I'm photoshoped with dildos all the time. It's fun :whacky: You're a real fucker. You act like you own this place--ParanoidAndroid <-- about as witty as this princess gets! I hope everyone pays more attention to Sags posts--sweething Jesus weeps

I complained about the NPGMC after the first year when he changed from not delivering on his downloadable music promise to bullshitting about mailing out new music CDs. I got back a flaming email in Princebonics that I wish I had printed for posterity, but it could be summed up with “eye don't want U neWAY!”

Oh, don't sell yourself short.
I'm sure you piss Prince off all the time!
I suspect most orgers do.

Rotterdam 2002. Final night of One Nite Alone. If you listen to the bootleg you'll here early on Prince say "Get the stick out your ass". That was aimed at me. While most people were dancing/bopping, I was standing there in awe just watching everything he was doing. I guess this, coupled with me wearing a suit meant I stood out a bit. At first I didn't think he meant me and I was looking around to see who he meant. But then when Sheila E also walked over to join him and look at me I realized! I started to shake sumthin' damn quick, which placated him - "there you go..." was his satisfied response. I was near the front but not at the very front so it surprised me he noticed. Give and take, I suppose, as many of the fans were upset with him as we'd been trapped outside the venue in crushed conditions for several hours. To his credit, prince did respond to this (by deflecting the complaints onto the Promoter) during the Soundcheck. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

Yep!
I was 14, in Detroit. 4th row close to his piano, He was singing, "How come you don't casll me?"
And my stupid butt, had all his published photos at the time (at 14 he was my Justin Bieber)
And I wouldn't stop yelling for hism to "SMILE!"
I never had seen his smile up to that point, and I thought there was something wrong with being so serious... all the time in public!

I promptly shut up and sat the rest of the night... STUNNED!

I think you pissed him off big time, yes. And i think thereby you're responsible for all the crap that happened from 2000 on. That includes Larry Graham, Shelby J., and Planet Earth.
Plus I heard from well-informed sources that the whole story about you, Prince, and him being pissed off about that to no end is going to be published very soon in an exclusive interview. Stay tuned!

Who knows...I doubt Prince takes much notice of anyone. I always thought it was odd that, during NPGMC years, one of the Ahdio shows did a brief 'skit'/funny voice about an English person constantly moaning about the Club...this was after months of bombarding them with emails about not receiving the Rave CD, them 'losing' my details when it came time to book priority tickets, not getting emails, some downloads not working, not being mailed links to exclusive stuff other people were getting etc.
But I'm not arrogant enough to truly believe it was all about me or that one person alone could get that 'special' put down treatment [Edited 5/6/11 22:35pm] [Edited 5/6/11 22:37pm]
