WHY WON'T PRINCE WORK WITH THE ROOTS?!?! Prince never seems to work with ANYBODY he didn't put on himself [mostly: Ya'll know what I'm talking about], & I think it's kind of hurting his music lately [Hey, we all need inspiration from other sometimes]. So, why can't this happen for an album or two? Prince production & Questlove Drums [& co-production]? That would be absolutely DOPE!!!!! What do you "Girls & Boys" think?????? | |

If I'm not mistaken, The Roots took the stage with prince tonite. 5/5/11 I'm sure we will hear more as details become available..... Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews. | |

I was at the 2/7 MSG show and Questlove was on stage at one point and I think he played the drums for a minute, LOL. (For a minute is black people talk for "a little while", LOL!) Trolls be gone! | |

Given the self-control he has tightly managed his entire career with, I highly doubt that would ever happen.
And anyway, look at Rave - luminaries like Chuck D and the wonderful Ani Di Franco on that album, but would you say it inspired incredible "new" music?
If it ever were to happen, the Roots would be mere flavourings in Prince's overall recipe, because you know who would be running that kitchen! ...we have only scratched the surface of what the mind can do...

Honestly I don't think we need a Roots/Prince album. Prince is good working with his own folks in a studio capacity. I'm not sure such an album would produce a truly organic collaboration anyway. | |

If the answer is "NONE": Why the Roots, then?

- Why did Prince never do a James Brown cover album?
- Why did Prince never play in a movie with Robert De Niro?
- Why did Prince never release a real concert DVD?
- Why did Prince only record 1/2 good song with George Clinton?
- Why doesn't Prince play free concerts?
- Why doesn't Prince run cool websites with free downloads for free?
- Why doesn't Prince play shows with more variety from his vast catalogue?

He HAS jammed with The Roots on various occasions [They've done some stuff that sounds very Prince before & it was DOPE!]. Of course this won't happen, but It's still a nice thought, I think if something like this did happen, it would give him some new inspiration [he wouldn't let them show him up. He might reach back in some of his old stuff to show them up & please us all]. Since you complaining about this thread, how about you deliver some awesome topic no ones ever started. People can start any stupid thread they want & I don't see their topics being considered "nonsense", so why mine? It's just a thought..... | |
